Port charges and taxes???

I was just curious if they are charged the same whether you go through a ta, representative from the cruiseline or bookonline. I booked from an online rep and it seems the taxes and charges are outrageous. I guess I need to call and ask what they are all for. A 1718.00 cruise (for 2) from Carnival stated taxes, fees would be 74.76. The online ta said a 1463.00 (for 2) cruise had 392.76 taxes, fees, port taxes. Crazy, how do they calculate this. It was for the same cruise. Only the 1400.00 quote was for a better cabin and better deck, but now it doesn't seem like such a good deal. ?????? Thanks

Well, what the TA shared with you is the breakdown of the cruse that the TA sees. The commisionable amount is $1463... and the fees and taxes are $392.76. This adds up to your quoted price. The prices you see on the Cruise site only include the taxes... but does not include port charges ($74.76).

The short of it is... you were given a very repetable quote.
