meglet Posted April 8 #1 Share Posted April 8 Hello All, I think I remember reading that either Norwegian, or maybe it was Bermuda, won't accept a passport that's about 3 weeks until its expiration. Is that true? Thank you for any help!
Rare shof515 Posted April 8 #2 Share Posted April 8 us department of state website, the same agency that issues passports says your passport must be valid at the time of entry of going to bermuda: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/international-travel/International-Travel-Country-Information-Pages/Bermuda.html

meglet Posted April 8 Author #4 Share Posted April 8 Thank you, I read through it, but it doesn't say anything about how long a passport has to be valid.
ggTexasGal Posted April 8 #5 Share Posted April 8 @meglet Officially, NCL does not require you to carry a passport, nor does Bermuda require you to have one, if you visit via a cruise ship. However, this might be noteworthy to you: https://www.state.gov/dipnote-u-s-department-of-state-official-blog/check-your-passports-expiration-date/ For us, there are too many "what ifs" that life can create. We always renew 4-6 months prior to the expiration date.

Is that true? Thank you for any help! As long your the passport is valid through the time you disembark at the end of your cruise you're fine. As a US citizen you don't even need a passport to take a closed loop cruise Boston to Bermuda to Boston. You can use an official birth certificate and a government-issued photo ID such as a drivers license.

That's because it just has to be valid through the day you're disembarking the ship upon its return to Boston. meglet Posted April 8 Author #8 Share Posted April 8 I was hoping you'd reply njhorseman - you're a trusted source. Thank you. The year I got my passport was the year of my Dad's decline and passing and when I think of 2014, that's what I think of. Saves me a trip to get a new official birth certificate. 1
