hen302 Posted April 17 #1 Share Posted April 17 Hi. We are doing B2B on Nautica in May. Changeover day is in Cape Town. Want to book a tour to Robben Island. Would prefer a 9am tour but wondering what time we are likely to get off the ship. It is due to arrive at 7am. It's only a five minute walk to from the pier but wondering if they are going to make us wait until after others have disembarked? TIA
Allwashedup Posted April 17 #2 Share Posted April 17 Although we were not on a cruise, we were on a rail journey across South Africa, we were booked to go to Robben Island, alas, we had three days of high winds and the trip was cancelled. Check, you can get a refund if need be. Often bad weather is an exception for not giving a refund in a lot of cases.
MEFIowa Posted April 17 #3 Share Posted April 17 We did our B2B changeover on Riviera in Athens on November 9, 2023. And we had to change cabins, which has its own issues. BUT we found the process to be smooth and were able to leave the ship pretty early, without any delay waiting for all the others to leave. You have to make sure to let your cabin steward & attendant know in advance and work with them. You may need a new key card, from the front desk. We did because we went from an A3 to a B3 at the changeover. We made it to the Acropolis early, long before the lines got huge, using local metro that we walked to from the ship. no fuss travel Posted April 17 #4 Share Posted April 17 Buy your own ticket at the Robben Island ferry. There are plenty of openings right at the pier and the tour on the island is done by ex inmates. Well worth doing. If the water is rough, there will be no tours, or if the water gets rough listen to their announcements as they will get you back. The only problem is that a fair amount of people will get sea sick on that crossing. To us the crossing was like a bad crossing on BC Ferries, so it did not bother us. Rare ronrick1943 Posted April 17 #5 Share Posted April 17 We did a b2b, we packed everything up and had the Butler arrange the move and left the ship when we wanted (early). When we came back we just stopped at the front desk for a new key for the new suite.
hen302 Posted April 17 Author #6 Share Posted April 17 Thanks all. Sounds like we should be ok to buy the 9am tickets for Robben Island. I figured we will be up early on changeover day any way as there is usually a lot of noise and activity in the corridors as people leave. We aren't changing rooms so I expect it will be pretty smooth process, it's just that our only other B2B experience was on NCL and they make most things incredibly complicated. Fingers crossed for the weather. Cheers
