Family On Board Posted March 25, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 25, 2006 We are taking our first cruise on Explorer of the Seas-Western Caribbean April 9-16. My children are 12 and 9. Can anyone recommend shore excursions we should consider, if any. Thanks!:)
CruisinFinsUp Posted March 25, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 25, 2006 Try the "ports" boards - lots of discussions on the different types of excursions available in each port. There is some info on the "family" board too.
Family On Board Posted March 25, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted March 25, 2006 I have been researching. I wonder if the Cave tubing excursion in Belize would be too much for my 9 year old?
Family On Board Posted March 25, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted March 25, 2006 Thanks. I have been researching. I wonder if the cavetubing in Belize would be too much for my 9 year old. I did find the "kids extreme cave tubing" - would that be too boring for the rest of us?
Sheffie Posted March 25, 2006 #5 Share Posted March 25, 2006 I would be sure to take them on a trip out to Stingray City in Grand Cayman. There were lots of kids on our excursion and they loved it! There were 6th graders on our cruise who said that the Cave Tubing was a great excursion. Have you checked out the Belize Ports of Call forum? Lots of ideas there about the cave tubing. Have fun planning!

This is one of the few places where you can float through caves. It is a ball and unless there is high water, it is a surefire hit with the kids. I don't know what your itenerary is but my picks for kids in different ports are: Caymans: Nativeway's Rays, Reefs, and Rum Point Tour. Belize: Wet & Wild"s Cave Tubing. Regis and Xstream are also good. Cozumel: Paradise Beach or Chankanabb Park (when it re-opens). Take a taxi. Progreso: Dzibilchaltun Ruins. We used the cruise tour but would book through Autoprogreso if we go again. You can also go to a nice resort with a gorgeous pool with the same company. Calica: Xcaret Park or Tulum. Take a taxi. Costa Maya: David and Ivan's Ruins Tour or Shore Trips Beach Break. All of these are great and well suited for the youngsters. They are pretty good for us oldsters, too.:D
