SusieAV8R Posted April 19 #1 Share Posted April 19 I don't see this too often but I want to do a shout out for X's medical staff. DH & I just completed a 9 day cruise on Summit. Very short long story: I needed to get a constant cough and associated wheezing checked out. (I was 99.9% certain it was not Covid or RSV as I had been recently tested for those 2.) Pollen was no longer an issue on board ship but there seemed to be an issue on board (over abundance of cleaning product in certain locations perhaps) that was aggravating my cough and wheezing. I went to medical, blood was taken, a CBC test was done and 2 chest X-rays were done. Nurse Lovelyn was outstanding as was Dr. Jefferson who confirmed I had no infection (yay, no pneumonia 😄) but I had irritated lungs, like an asthmatic. Checkup, tests & prescription drugs (no antibiotics since none needed..yay!) came to less than $450! A detailed printout was provided to me so that I can submit a claim to my insurance company. (And less than a week later, I am feeling almost back to normal, despite all the tree pollen we have here!). Disclosure: 10+ years ago I got food poisoning while cruising, went to Celebrity's medical facility and found the nurses and 2 doctors to be fantastic...same as on this occasion. So if you are feeling less than optimal while cruising, don't hesitate to check in with X's medical team. 16

Thanks horseymike! Irony: the cruise ship medical did what my "excellent" medical insurance could not do: get me an appointment with my Family Practice doc. 🤣. (I had actually messaged, while on Summit, my family practitioner for an appoint when I returned home and told not possible, so I went to X's medical!!)

Glad you're feeling better. Thanks JJK2008. Was getting concerned that I had developed "walking pneumonia". Not good, since I was on this cruise to celebrate my 70th. 🤩
Rare bjahil47 Posted April 20 #7 Share Posted April 20 We were on Beyond last month and my husband had an issue with his eye. All they could do was look in it with a light and charge him $220 and no receipt. They did arrange for him to see a retina specialist the next day in port. They had transportation ready for him and had an interpreter go with him. It was well planned by Celebrity and luckily he was able to reboard ship after a procedure. … Happy you are feeling better!
cruisegirlppp Posted April 20 #8 Share Posted April 20 So glad you got excellent care and are feeling better. On my very first Celebrity cruise I developed an antibiotic allergy and visited the medical facility onboard. I still remember how well (and how quickly!) they took care of me...I had to return for a follow up visit and they made it all so easy. I second Susie's advice to seek care at the medical facility if an issue arises.
