Mendenhall Glacier Visit Feasibility

We have booked a whale watching tour that leaves at 11:00 and is 3.5 hours - putting us back at the ship around 2:30.  Does that leave enough time for us to visit the Mendenhall Glacier if we use the bus transit system?  Taxi?  If taxi, what is roughly the cost of a taxi from the ship terminal?

With the inconvenience of having to go back to the ship after the whale watch and then to the glacier and the added expense, you might look at one of the vendors that have a combo whale watch/Mendenhall Glacier trip. Juneau Tours has them for $212.

We did visit Mendenhall via the bus a few years ago. It took about an hour to get there and another to get back. A taxi would cut that time in half.
