Sunset329 Posted May 17 #1 Share Posted May 17 (edited) We are taking a western transatlantic cruise in the fall. Is it better to have a balcony on the port side or starboard side of the ship? We do enjoy watching the sunset or sunrise on our balcony, with coffee or drink in hand. Edited May 17 by Sunset329
skynight Posted May 17 #2 Share Posted May 17 (edited) It's all about the position of the sun in relation to the ship. On west bound transatlantic cruises the sun will always be to the south which means mostly on the port side. Sunrise will be aft, sunset forward. Plot your route and you will get a good idea of how the sun will be positioned in relation to your voyage. Edited May 17 by skynight
Rare Justpackingmybags Posted May 17 #3 Share Posted May 17 I did a TA from Southampton last year. The first few days we were heading south, so starboard side got the best sunsets (if it wasn’t too cloudy) and I was on the port side for some great sunrises. Once past the Azores and heading west/ south west I got better afternoon Sun and sunsets.
