Halifax Plan - Feedback

Peggy's Cove, is it all that, or not worth it?  I read many reviews ages ago when I first sailed to Halifax. Can you do a less expensive version on your own vs. the ship excursion?  I visited the Citadel, the gardens, and walked along the boardwalk on that trip almost 10yrs ago. All very nice, but I don't need to do those again.

Nearby wine shop with reasonable prices near the port/walkable?  I have done a google maps search, and saw there are a few near port but don't want to "fall prey" to overpriced offerings just b/c it is adjacent to the ship.

You can rent a car and drive to Peggy's Cove for probably cheaper. Once you are there there isn't much to 'tour' per se, so I am not sure what a tour provider would offer other than transportation.

Try Bishop's Cellar, it's fairly close to the cruise port and has more unique findings, or you can hit the NSLC at the Barrington St Superstore. We have liquor laws that prevent mark ups (you will find all the pricing the same across the board.)

The Halifax waterfront has changed a lot in 10 years! Liquor prices are controlled by our provincial government

Peace by Chocolate is far better than Lindt in my opinion and worth a visit. The ice cream in interesting ( stretchy) .. I live just across the harbour and walk the boardwalk weekly

Someone asked how far a walk is the Maritime Museum and I don't think this was answered. I am interested in going there and want to know how far it is from the pier.

It's about a 20 minute walk.

  • 3 months later...

My brother and I walked down to the HMCS SACKVILLE.

We did the self-guided tour, they had very knowledgeable teenagers at various station on the ship

to give you information, they were very good. Well worth the $5.00 donation.

We stopped at various places on the board walk
