scottie99 Posted May 26 #1 Share Posted May 26 When we came off the flight into Sou Airport, we were charged £23 for taxi to cruise terminal. When we got into a cab at the crash terminal he quoted £38 and refused to put his meter on and when we got to the airport, he asked for £42. I know not a lot in terms of overall cruise spending, but I hate getting ripped off! Is there a set fare? Is he allowed to not turn on meter? Thejuggler Posted May 26 #2 Share Posted May 26 (edited) What type of taxi? If Hackney carriage they are licenced by the Council and have set fares, if private hire they aren't. If your taxi back was a Hackney cab you have cause to raise a complaint if the meter wasn't running, but you will need the cab number or reg. It is important to note that fares charged for the hire of private hire vehicles cannot be regulated by the city council; in both hackney carriages and private hire vehicles, passengers should always ensure that the basis of the fare has been agreed before the journey commences, especially if that journey goes beyond the city boundary.
