Update regarding possible strike at LHR?

Recommended Posts

Last week I read that there was a threat of a strike at LHR by the Border Patrol Officers.

does anyone have any information or updates regarding this issue?

We fly into LHR this Friday from the states.

Thank you

Yes, there is a strike currently scheduled between Friday and Sunday, however during previous strikes there hasn’t been any major disruption - indeed many people have reported immigration being more efficient than usual!

So I wouldn’t be overly concerned.

Thank you so much for your response and encouragement! It is very much appreciated.

Hello nini,

We landed at Heathrow May 1st with the strike in full force.  With a US passport's facial recognition, we sailed through entry.  In fact, it was faster than a recent arrival without a strike going on.

Wishing you smooth flights and a great cruise.

Clearly you had a better experience here, than our recent lengthy (over 1 hour) slow moving queue to enter the States at Miami. Had that appalling level of service been here in the UK, there would have been reports of it in the national press (print and TV) but, apparently, that's the norm for Miami.

If there weren’t queues, no-one would pay CBP for Global Entry.

Harters,

Sorry to hear about your experience.

Actually, going through customs at Heathrow was a lot faster and more pleasant than doing so upon landing at DFW in  the country of my birth.

Unfortunately, it is very much the norm for Miami. We live across the coast from Miami and dread having to do any sort of transport out of Miami.

Good to know for future reference.
