Rotterdam Deck 8 - Vista Suite

Recommended Posts

Can anyone tell me whether or not the verandahs on the Rotterdam, specifically Deck 8, are covered? I am in 81XX and concerned that it is open. Can't really tell with the photos I'm seeing online or on CruiseDeckPlans.

Thanks!

We booked one several months ago and my PCC reminded me that there is no covering on the balcony. Have had several before on Deck 8 and apparently never bothered us.

On the Pinnacle class ships the deck 8 Vistas (midship) would have no roof/cover.  On the smaller ships they probably do - if there are vistas on that deck on the other ships.

This video of the sister ship Nieuw Statendam Vista Suite 8108 shows how much (or little) of the balcony is covered, at minute marker 6:00. The panel of the wall that is rectangular has cover; that which has a curved edge, does not (not even the straighter part of that panel).

Appreciate the info. I had my TA move me to a Vista on Deck 6. A few years ago I had a room under the Lido and we didn't sleep very well.

I think you will be happy on Deck 6! Here is a video of Deck 6 cabin on sister ship Koningsdam. View of balcony coverage about minute-mark 2:00.

I was in a Vista on 6 on the Nieuw Statendam with my mom a few years ago. Loved that room! It was so pretty. This trip is hubby and me and while a regular verandah would have been fine, I wanted the extra space for the longer cruise. We were on the Eurodam for the 4th time in an OV earlier this year but booked the Retreat. No Retreat this trip as price has gone up too much for me. Normally we only do balconies but tried something different. It was fine and I would do an OV again on a port intensive cruise.  My casino offer was too good to just stay in the balcony when I could get the Vista for what I considered a great price.

Good for you! We booked/took a Vista Suite on a B2B (16-days total) on the K'dam. The Suite-bonus with HIA spending put us over 4* Mariners. Which was the point, but we really REALLY liked the cabin. We are in the same cabin for next year's So.Pacific!

I didn't think we had bonus points for a Vista. Do we?

Yes, if you pay a published rate (and not a paid upgrade/upsell) you get an extra point for every sea-day-point. As a Suite!

We were in a deck 6 Vista suite recently on the Rotterdam April transatlantic. The cabin was directly behind the elevators. We did not notice any noise. The cabin is very nice and being so close to the elevator makes for no long walks to your cabin after a day ashore. It’s a great deck!  Enjoy your cruise.

We were in 8105 this past month.  We did not notice that our balcony wasn't completely covered until a few days in on our 14 night cruise.  We even sat out there one day during a light drizzle.  We turned the chairs toward each other to stay out of the rain.
