Prima--are ALL Oceanview rooms obstructed with slides? Noisy?

OK we had a room that had this--I wouldn't really call it obstructed as it was on the side.

We are trying to coordinate this cruise with 2 couples, one of which we do not know personally.

That couple is concerned that ALL Oceanview rooms are obstructed with the slide & will be noisy. (we heard no noise, and it was a balcony)

(I can find nothing on any internet sources, reliable or not, to support this).

Can anyone give me more information to share with this couple.

(they are high maintenance it seems; they nixed Getaway due to the smoke from the casino wafting...um, let's just avoid the areas where it wafts?)

There are not a large number of "Oceanview" rooms (Category "O") on the PRIMA!

Most are on deck 5, a couple are on deck 11 and 14.  Other choices are Inside rooms, or Balcony rooms on decks 9-16.

Who is choosing and booking their room?  I would just stay out of it. Tell them to talk to NCL/travel agent if they want guidance in booking.  If/when they are unhappy, they'll have someone else to blame.

FWIW, we only sailed the Prima twice within the past year ... as far as I know and from I've seen and checked, all of the oceanview cabins are located on Deck 5.  There aren't OV cabins on the upper/higher decks and none whatsoever near the midship water slides (not to be confused with the *Away Plus ships like the Joy with the slides ... and even for those ships, the OV cabins on the higher decks are Forward facing only)

Our balconies were on Deck 10 mid, not far from the water slide but never heard a beep or noise from/when the slide was in use; and, also on Deck 11 mid & aft ... much further away from the slides - with views of the Ocean Walk below (Deck 8, where the slides "end")  - no issues with noise.  Squeaking & noises coming from behind the wall/ceiling panels & even odd, strange banging sound from somewhere within/behind the bathroom wall, as if the the sheetmetals and modular joints were flexing while at sea - those are unrelated issues and not attributed to the water slide.

Check & look at these illustrated deck maps and all the OV cabins are on Deck 5, it's more "useful" than the official ones published by NCL.

By shipyard design, I believe many if not all of the OV cabins on Deck 5 have a little overhang with the lifeboat stations above on Deck 6 & 7 ... and, there are support brackets against the side/ship's hull - I don't consider those to cause any serious obstructions or block the views across the horizon.

Midship near the waterslide, from Deck 9 up to the Deck 17 with balcony cabins, I believe one of the accessible balconies along with one of the family suite next door is slightly obstructed with the water slide's tube ... they are NOT oceanview cabins, however.

As far as smokers in the casino, they are isolated and behind clear partitioned wall & sliding doors so that the smoking is confined and kept contained in that area - very unlikely that casually walking thru the casino on Deck 5 thru Mid to/from Fwd (port side) pose respiratory issues for the aveage passengers.  Carry a good N95/KF94 or equivalent filter mask around and that should take care of any concern if they are concerned ... and, steer clear of outdoor designated smoking area on the ship's open deck.

Happy planning for the cruise.

Actually there ARE 4 cabins categorized as "Oceanview" but the description is "and oceanview with a balcony"  on deck 14 (14192 & 14792), & deck 11(11214 & 11814).

Now these are all handicap accessible. But if it is the only one left in the category, they seem to allow you to book it anyway (which makes sense in other categories...kinda silly for this one since they are all HA).

Then, you knew this (assuming this is the current NCL policy on releasing the "unsold" cabins, regardless) and did not specifically mention their availabilities for, what is most likely, a last minute booking ... in posting this "slick" question for others.  The cabin next door are suites, I've personally "toured" or seen both of these cabins on a different deck ... they are most definitely more being obstructed balcony, and doesn't quite fit the generally accepted & recognized layout of an obstructed oceanview in the NCL fleet of ships.  These are partially obstructed b/c of the water slides outside by the motorized sliding balcony door, part of the accessible features design ... and it is more than just a picture window.

If they are allowed and booked, be advised that NCl will email the guests booked in writing, that they are subject to being moved to another cabin should the accessible cabin is needed for other guests with accessibility needs, etc. etc. - feel free to roll the dices and take the chances.

One of my elder sister-in-law had booked a similar cabin directly with NCL on a different ship ... and there is an affirmation to click & accept ...

I affirm that I, or another person traveling in the same stateroom, have a recognized disability that alters a major life activity and requires the features provided in the accessible stateroom that I have booked with NCL. I acknowledge that if I misrepresent the need for an accessible stateroom, NCL reserves the right to take appropriate action, including but not limited to, removal from the stateroom to a non-accessible stateroom or denial of boarding.

Please feel free to ignore and disregard any, some, and none of the advice or details given here as a "guide" as NCL Access Desk and the Staff Captain onboard has the final say as the authority along with Guest Services, should the cabin as booked is needed on short notice.  Your friends will most likely be moved and given a new cabin instead.  Good luck in booking and being able to keep the cabin upon embarkation ... it is best then to speak with a NCL agent directly about this.

Yes, the balcony is small, but little more obstructed than a wall on a covered balcony.

These were booked via CAS & when I inquired about the room, they always said "it is accessible...but oh, it's the last one, so not a problem."

Of course, we would never take one from someone who needs it, and would graciously move if someone would.
