FishyMom1967 Posted July 5 #1 Share Posted July 5 Looking to book flight from Toronto to Gatwick (London) for Sept 2025 with Air Transat and considering the last flight of the day. Has anyone done this and had their flight cancelled due to the time of day? Could book the earlier flight as well. Any pro's or con's with this plan? BOB999 Posted July 5 #2 Share Posted July 5 Toronto Pearson doesn't appear to have a hard curfew like some airports do, only restrictions on older, noisier aircraft. So the time of day shouldn't be a factor. Airlines wouldn't schedule flights they couldn't consistently operate.

Has anyone done this and had their flight cancelled due to the time of day? I've sometimes had the first flight of the day cancelled, and sometimes the last flight of the day cancelled. Sometimes that's been the same flight, when the airline only has one flight a day between those two cities. (Or sometimes that flight is the only flight of the day between those two cities. Or those two countries.) Whatever your plan, you really should make sure that it allows for contingencies. Booking the earlier of two flights doesn't give you that much protection against a cancellation. If the first flight is cancelled and the second flight is already full, then the second flight is as much use to you as a chocolate teapot. Rare *Miss G* Posted July 5 #4 Share Posted July 5 Have never had an Air Transat flight cancelled, nor have any of my friends or family. That doesn’t mean to say that it can’t happen; just that it hasn’t happened in my experience. As @Globaliser says, make sure to allow for contingencies. For an international overseas flight like that I would not worry about that. There is usually only one flight per day on most international routes. The widebody aircraft on these types of route over a 24 hour period usually only operate two flights. Canada overseas and then back again.
