Island Princess Casino

Anyone care to weigh in on the casino on the Island Princess? We are looking at booking the 54 night South Pacific cruise. I watched a review on the casino and it is really small. The crap table is a half sized table - how was that? Really kind of bummed out after watching the review.

Hopefully someone else can chime in, as we were on Island a couple years ago.

The only thing I remember about the casino, is it was small. Not much help there.

Other than that, I liked the size of the ship reminds me of Grand, or Ruby, some

of those.

But I believe Island is the only ship in the fleet that doesn't have an International Cafe?

We utilize IC daily.  Thats a deal breaker for me.  We haven't been on Island since.

Usually we can find other ships with an IC, so no need to sail on Island anymore.

Good luck to you.

Well, I'll be on the Island at the end of August and will report back.  Hopefully that's not too late for your decision making @Globaler.  I, too, spend time in the casino and am concerned...but mine is a port-intensive Med cruise.

That said, I've played craps at those smaller tables (ever play at Casino Royale in LV?); and they're not that bad.

Not to late at all and thanks. Oh how I remember and miss craps at Casino Royale (although don’t remember the small tables). I also loved Sots a Fun and their crap table that was almost on the street! I hope you win and win big. 🎉

Yes it is really small!  We sailed for 16 days on a Northern European. I spent far less time in the casino than I normally would, not just because it was small and crowded in the evenings but it is also quite open and exposed to people passing by, so it didn't have the same "gaming energy" that I like.  On a positive, it is partly separated by the bar, so that is nice if you like the bar atmosphere while playing (increasingly hard now they've removed the bars from the newer Royal class ships).  Personally, I wouldn't let that detract from selecting such an awesome itinerary though!

Thanks for you comments.  I love playing craps and saw the small table and was very disappointed. If we book I’ll follow along and read the reviews.  The reviews haven’t been very kind to the ship right now!

Thanks we do love the casino bar thing and also very disappointed in Princess for removing them and or not including them in newer ships.  We booked today but have a lot of time before final payments are due. We’ll see what happens with reviews and whether Princess will replace our ship or refurbish it before we sail.

Check out this current Live on the Princess boards.  She's a trusted reviewer (in my book) and loving the ship.  Reading it made me feel way less apprehensive about my own Island Princess cruise in August.
