We were scheduled on the 4/2 Star and lucky enough once that sailing was finally confirmed cancelled our party got booked onto the Century. We have a party of 12 for our son's wedding and just looking for info regarding the Century and any help we can get. Big change in size - 2600 passengers to the Century 1400?. What should we expect?? Thanks for any imput. Three groups of us have "concierge" on the Penthouse? deck and the other 3 have way aft cabins on the Vista deck. Any comments? Thanks for your comments.

Hi, welcome to Celebrity:) I have never sailed Princess so

I cannot give you a comparison.

But I can tell you Century is my favorite ship. I have sailed her

3 times and loved her every time.

As for size, she is 70,000 tons and there are more than 1400 pax...

about 1950. Still less than your Star ship.

As for what she has to offer~ elegance, excellent service and

food.

There is one dining room called "The Grand". Celebrity only

offers traditional dining (2 seatings for dinner). No Personal

Choice, which you might be used to sailing Princess.

There is the buffet for breakfast and lunch and also in the dining

room~breakfast and lunch are open seating.

There is no specialty restaurant on Century but there is an

area used for "Alternative Dining". It is near the buffet but it is

not a buffet.

You are seated...and served and a 2.00 gratuity is suggested.

Century was built in 1995 and she is going for a major drydock

in May. (she will be in Europe for it) and out of commission for about

6 weeks.

They are adding a specialty restaurant, an aqua spa cafe,

and many balconies.

Right now the only balconies on Century are attached to the

suites.

I have sailed Celebrity 7 times and enjoy everything they have to

offer....and Century will always be my favorite ship.

Oh, congrats on your son's nuptuals:)

Leslie, well, the best I can say is I love Celebrity.

It sounds like you love Princess. I am guessing human nature

will probably have you comparing "this to that" all week long. I hope

you sail her with an open mind. She is quite elegant.

SunLeslie,

Read your posts on the Princess board. So glad you found an alternate cruise. I guess you'll have to use your Princess credits to take an anniversary cruise! Smooth sailing and best wishes to the bride and groom!

Thanks for all the encouragement. I'm the one who is trying to get everyone else excited now about this cruise. I think it will be great- Is there any kind of "cruise critic" get together sometime on the cruise??

Thanks for all the support - you guys are great. Sure wish it was the Princess though.

SunLeslie, I think you will be pleased with Celebrity. I have sailed both Celebrity and Princess and love them both, although I like the food on Celebrity better. Looking forward to your review after the cruise.

Hi Leslie, yes there is a "get together" if you have more than

25 people sign up for your "ROLL CALL". You need to have the 25

within 3 days prior to your sailing.

I think there is a ROLL CALL already started for your cruise.

Pop over to the Roll Call area and check it out:)

It is definitely a nice way to meet other folks on your cruise:)

SunLeslie: I have never been on Princess, but do love Celebrity which we have been on for 9 going on 10 of our 11 cruises (other two Holland America which is also great). Our September cruise will be on the Century (1st time on Century).

I wanted to post your rollcall link below:

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=270410

Also, you should see the link for the Connections Party at the top of this thread.

I think it is only natural to compare when you are on a ship of a different cruiseline -- or even compare ships themselves. My husband and I always laugh that we will compare when we are on a ship to the other cruiseline or ship and then when we get back to the other cruiseline we will compare back to the previous one.

Best wishes with the wedding and have fun on your cruise enjoying all Celebrity has to offer! Any more questions, just let us know.

Kathy
