What spending counts toward loyalty (casino question)

OK...I am within a thousand points of Diamond.

I know you get 100 points for every $150 spent onboard.

Most of what I spend is in the casino--do I need to charge my gambling $ to my account for this?

Or if I just put cash in the machine, will my coin-in count?

Thanks.

Unfortunately casino spend doesn't count towards Voyagers Club points...

You can collect points based on the type of MSC Experience purchased, onboard services prepaid before the cruise and onboard expenses. Points are credited at the end of the cruise, approximately ten days after the disembarkation date. Take a look at more details below.

Onboard services prepaid before the cruise: you earn 100 points every 150 €/$ on expenses made before the cruise on MSC packages and services included in the cruise booked*.

Onboard expenses: you earn 100 points for every 150 €/$ spent on board, excluding casino expenses. Points for onboard expenses (including pre-boarding purchased shipboard credit) will only be assigned to the MSC Voyagers Club cardholder making the final payment.
*For currencies other than € euro, the currency conversion on purchase day will apply.

Also keep in mind that anything you charge to your room has the potential to earn you some type of points/rewards on your credit card. Double dip into two loyalty programs whenever possible!!

Wait a minute.  Let’s think about this.  If you pre-purchase OBC, MSC will charge your credit card at that time, and apply the “shipboard credit” to your stateroom.  To me, that OBC can be drawn from while in the casino, just like any other OBC. I mean that I think that OBC is OBC and when they award your Voyager points at the end of the cruise, they maybe can’t or don’t make the distinction in how that OBC came to be, so you would get Voyager point credit for it.  Whaddayathink?

I'm thinking you're right and I'm gonna give it a try for my Oct cruise..... I can always cash out my prepaid OBC if I don't end up using it.
