We have stayed at Hotel Colon.  It was a great location, easy to get anywhere from here, but it is a very old hotel, and I couldn't save money using any of my chain-loyalty points.

We have stayed at several other hotels which I forgot and would not recommend, but the last time we stayed at the Kimpton Vividora, which is part of IHG.  Absolutely a great choice, almost feels like it's family run, great service, friendlys taff, great breakfast was included, great location just steps from La Rambla.  The rooms were a bit small, perhaps? but the main problem with Vividora was that taxis did not like driving into the complicated small streets so they would drop off or pick up about 3 blocks away.  The street was rather lonely at night, but never had a problem.

We love staying at the Hotel Colon. Always something happening in the plaza, the beautiful church across the street is worth visiting, and it is easy walking distance to everything.

Just got a great deal on The Mirror for €100 less than usual price on booking dot  - it is three blocks away from Passeig de Gracia and one away from Calle Enric Granados where there are fabulous restaurants.

Sounds worth looking into.

Appreciated these suggestions.  We stay overnight in Barcelona next June before boarding Onward.  Finally booked H10 Madison which looks very central and has a rooftop terrace for the obligatory pre cruise cocktail 🍹

Regards
