Thank you for the inspiration. Agreed! We were on the ship the week before Yvonne and her dad. My husband took a pic of this day one and sent it to our kids. He was like "We are in a crazy world!" There was also one elevator on deck 13 where the arrow pointed sideways LOL.

I can see why that's your favourite/favorite. Until I read the caption, I was wondering why they were serving orange sherbet (no...NOT sherbeRt...one of my many pet peeves) with broccoli. I also adore exploring with no intention other than to find and inspect nature’s wonder. we walked for hours, both in our element The beachcombing made me chuckle. I can imagine if my Rich was along. He would have stuffed his pockets, so full of shells and rocks that his pants would literally have fallen down from the weight. So glad you’re getting this time with your dad. We both know how precious that is Mary.

vacation44 Posted August 28 #210 Share Posted August 28 @YVRteacher, I just finished reading your live on the Princess board and was sad to read that you were not going to be doing one of your famous lives with your dad on the Jewel. I cannot tell you how happy I was to find this (I am not spending a lot of time on CC lately). I am so glad you and your dad are having a wonderful time and he seems to really be enjoying himself--much more than in May. Thank you, again, for always coming here to share your stories and adventures. I still think you should write a book on it. Looking forward to week two.

I love to write but don’t have characters or a plot in mind. It can’t be mystery because I give everything. Thank you for reading!
Rare YVRteacher Posted August 28 Author #214 Share Posted August 28 I meant I give everything away. I will need an excellent editor. Either that or I need to not drink and write. Today’s typos are courtesy of three Painkillers before noon. The drink, not Advil. 3
Rare YVRteacher Posted August 28 Author #215 Share Posted August 28 Back to the nature trail in Icy Strait Point where I left off due to zero wifi Halfway on the nature trail we encountered a small hill. Jack and Jill sized. Dad: “who put this great big hill here? You didn’t tell me there was a great big hill!” Me: “do you want my arm?” Dad: big sigh followed by “no” Me: “you just want to complain?” Dad: “yes” Onward we trudged and I took photos of funghi Eating lunch at the bar at O’Sheehan’s I asked dad if he wanted to see all the photos of funghi I took today. Dad “no. I’m eating my soup.” I showed him this anyhow. I can not repeat what he said. 12
Rare YVRteacher Posted August 28 Author #216 Share Posted August 28 Dad enjoyed his carrot ginger soup and pub hot dog. I helped him out by sharing some of his McDonald-esque French Fries. So there I was enjoying my nachos. I got to the end and found this at the bottom of the bowl. I’m such a germ freak kind of person this was horrifying for me. I told Edgar, the bar manager who sent the maître d. The maître d apologized. How many apologies have we had so far? There shouldn’t be any. There shouldn’t be a hair in my nachos either. This is vile. For dessert I ordered my dad an apple pie with vanilla ice cream hold the apple pie I ordered myself a Mudslide to try to sanitize the essence of hair and to disinfect my digestive tract. While dad was happily eating his vanilla ice cream I asked him what he liked most about Icy Strait Point today. He said it wasn’t crowded. I asked what else. Dad said we didn’t get rained on. I out drank dad 3:1 this afternoon then we went to the cabin.

Rare YVRteacher Posted August 29 Author #223 Share Posted August 29 Since we had Moderno booked for dinner we did pre-dinner drinks at Sugarcane. Back in the day we used to spend hours at this bar. The menu has changed. Who the heck is Kathy Casey, what is her liquid kitchen and who removed the Brugal Ginger Mojito from the mojito bar menu? I asked the bartender if he would make a ginger mojito and he said the replacement is the Spiced Rum Mojito. If I wanted spiced rum and ginger beer I would have ordered it. Someone came up to the mojito bar which is located inside Moderno and asked the bartender if this was the steakhouse. The bartender said yes. I stepped in and said this was the Brazilian restaurant and the steakhouse is Cagney’s which is across the hall. This bartender hasn’t smiled or said hi to anyone the whole time we’ve been here. It is not busy. I did a quality control taste test on my dad’s raspberry guava mojito. Then I downed my not so good coco loco and ordered what he had. I forgot I don’t like coco loco mojitos. NCL keeps reusing the flimsy cardboard coasters so you are getting sloppy seconds in the coaster department. I often try to push the used one away but the bartender pushes it back. I’m also very aware that the bar tops are rarely wiped so we are always sitting at a dirty bar. I have not seen them being disinfected once. A kid did sit at O’Sheehan’s a couple days ago and did a remarkably good job wiping the countertop with his jacket when he climbed up on to the bar. 6
Rare YVRteacher Posted August 29 Author #224 Share Posted August 29 I just watched the hostess outside Cagney’s wipe her dripping nose with her hand then gather 15 key cards from a large group in the same hand. Shall we guess how many of those people are going to have the sniffles and a sore throat in 3-5 days? 9
Rare YVRteacher Posted August 29 Author #225 Share Posted August 29 Moderno is now open and it is busy! Dad: where did your drink go? Me: I drank it all. Waiter at Moderno: you’re a vegetarian. Is chicken fine? Me: no, chicken is not fine Waiter: so what are you going to eat? Me: the sides and the salad bar My plate from the salad bar Dad’s plate from the salad bar These were raw inside This is dad’s lamb. He tried to cut it and said “crikey.” Perhaps it is Australian lamb. Dad didn’t enjoy his dinner at all. He was absolutely miserable. The service was terribly slow and the meat had come around many times before any sauces or sides were delivered. There are few things I love more than mashed potatoes. I once ate mashed potatoes for Christmas morning breakfast. The ones we were served at Moderno were not edible. They were so salty and full of gritty chunks. Dessert was fine. 12
