that I tell my DH we are leaving on a cruise Monday (6/21). He turned 40 a few weeks ago and this is his 40th birthday surprise. I've been planning this since last year.

 

My best friend and her finacee` are having a surprise party for him tonight and I'm going to give him the cruise tickets at the party. He will be very surprised & very excited. I can't wait to see the look on his face. icon_biggrin.gif

He is lucky to have you and you both deserve a great time. Make sure and get a picture of him when he gets the tickets. HAVE LOTS OF MARITAL FUN......LOL, LOL!!! You sound like a great couple.

i surprised my hubby a few years ago with a cruise and couldn't wait until his birthday- had to tell him about 10 days beforehand....was too hard not to talk about it!!!! icon_smile.gif and i only planned it about 3 months ahead of time!!

The party turned out great. We did a Mexican Theme. We had burritos, rice, beans margarita's, corona's with lime, tequlia (sp?), chip and salsa, we played caribbean music, the whole nine yards.

 

This is how I gave him the tickets. My best friend and her fiancee` are getting married in the caribbean next year and what I did was I got one of their caribbean brochures and put the tickets inside of it. I started showing him the brochure of some of the places they were considering on getting married at. He was looking at the brochure and all of sudden he came to a page with an envelope clipped to it that had his name on it. He said what's this, it has my name on it. So he opened it and pulled out the tickets. His eyes got so BIG icon_eek.gif. He said "honey are we going on a cruise" and I said "yes baby we are... Happy 40th Birthday". He was so excited. Everyone in the room started clapping and laughing. We had a great time.

 

Our anniversary is June 24 and every year since we have been married we always take that week off so we both already had the week off. He just didn't think we were going anywhere but I sure fooled him.

 

When he turns 50 I don't know what I'll do for his birthday. I have plenty of time to think about it. LOL icon_biggrin.gif.

 

Thanks to everyone for wishing us a great cruise. You guys are the best. I'll miss these boards while I'm cruising but I will be sure to post a review when I return.

Your DH definately married the BEST! But be prepared to deal with shock! When I sprang a short cruise on kids... like at the pier, one was deinately "out of sorts". So just be prepared that your - pent up - exuberance isn't reciprocated... You may need to cajole...some.

This gives me an idea on how to tell my DW about the cruise I'm surprising her with. I actually wanted to wait until after we got off the plane in FLL, then tell her we're going on a cruise. After reading this thread, maybe I'll have a surprise party about 2 weeks before departure. Then she'll have time to pack, and arrange how she wants to get her hair done.

I think that would be great to have a surprise party for your DW and then give her the tickets at the party. My DH's surprise party turned out great. He got 2 surprises in one day, a party and a cruise. icon_biggrin.gif
