This is not our first canal transit. We will enjoy the Gatun locks at a civilized time in the afternoon.

Internet spotty today. No telling.

 

We had the two center seats at the sushi bar tonite. It is so fascinating watching the chefs prepare each course. And, of course, just looking at all that fish right in front of you….just point and tell the chef how many pieces you want. And the sake flows and flows and…..

 

Gotta try and get up for the first canal locks tomorrow. Stay tuned.

Canal transit times are approximate. Just entering miraflores lock now. About 45 minutes behind schedule.

The best martini in the world?  Go directly to Dukes Hotel, in London, and order one of their martinis.  The bring a cart to your table and make it right there.  The bar opens at 3 pm and you should be there at least by 2:30 because there will be a line of people waiting to get in.  It will really make your head spin!  It was a great experience.

Any comments about the water situation for the Canal?

Is there enough to sustain the required transits in the future?

 

We'll be doing Christmas '25 through the ditch.

I saved a .pdf photo of the ship from the Panama Canal port webcam this morning. Bringing back wonderful memories of our last Crystal cruise October 2019. Counting the days until we board Serenity again in NYC on September 14. Have a terrific day.

Terrific photos and good to see you both!  Thanks for the great thread allowing those of us at home to follow along.  We never get bored with the transit and always marvel at the engineering aspect of moving these large ships through the canal.

Welcome to the "right coast"!  Getting closer, physically and timewise, to our time to board in NYC next month!!

This has been a lengthy transit. Exiting last lock now. And yes, the ship will emerge with a “Panama Canal racing stripe”. The touch-up paint crew will be on the pier tomorrow.
