Ports requiring tenders?

Hello, is there an easy way to determine which ports require tenders?  In looking over our itinerary, I don't see it noted.

I only found the information once we boarded. I don't know if there is any other way.

Other lines list the ports and show an anchor where tendering is performed.  Definitely a miss by Silversea.  You could check port details through the local port authority websites, port by port.  Pretty cumbersome and unrealistic though.

From experience over many years, there is no accurate way to determine whether it will be a Tender Port. There are some Ports where Tenders are always required e.g. Santorini, but in others it seems to be down to luck if Silversea have negociated a Berth ( especially relevent if other Ships also in Port ) or even Weather conditions.

Unfortunately Silversea seem not to bother to produce any Information prior to Boarding ( unlike some other Lines ) and even once on board do not rely upon Information given by The Desk or Tour Office as things change very rapidly !!!

It can be very tiresome if arranging Private Tours, Meeting Friends etc but I doubt things will change.

As mentioned by some above, many times it is simply not known if the ship will tender or dock in certain ports of call: Monte Carlo, Mykonos, Kotor and Dubronik all come to mind as examples.  At each of these ports, we have experienced both options while crusing on Silversea ships.

 

Why does Silversea not indicate which option will occur?  They dont know and will face criticism and be attacked if the the cruise does not proceed exactly as indicated - thus, information is provided at the last minute.  Other cruise lines may indicate what they THINK will happen at a certain port; look, there is no assurance that the ship will even make the port of call as we have all experienced itineary changes once underway due to a variety of reasons.  Not everything is life (and cetainly in travel) can be planned to the last detail.

 

Indicating dock/teender ports - and then have last moment changes - will just give passengers more things to complain about.  I am not wrong - just read most of the posts on this Board.
