Chioggia day in port

Has anyone who has departed from Chioggia spent the 2nd port day visiting the town?  We embark next August on a Satuday and sail out Sunday 8pm.  Just wondering how easy it is to visit the town or if Azamara provides any transport to town from the ship?  Thanks all for your information.

Chioggia is a very nice little town! We spent a day there before debarkation this summer. A lot of nice restaurants and bars. Very italian!

It is walkable from port - 10 minutes to the main street. It also has one of the largest beaches in Italy - called Sottomarina - this will take 30 minutes.

You can also do boattrips in the lagoon of Venice or take the vaporetto to Lido di Venezia.

Just to say we did a day pre and post cruise in Chioggia, a most delightful little town as you state. If we were ever to sail again from Chioggia, we would do exactly the same.

Yes we stayed there two days pre-cruise. A great spot. You must join the late afternoon passegiatta when it seems the whole town comes to the main street for a drink and people watching. We found a gem of a restaurant near to where the ship docks called Trattoria Lanterna Blu. At lunch time it is packed and they offer a workers lunch - it is 95% locals. There is a full menu of several courses with a couple of options for an absolute bargain price. Thoroughly recommend.
