Which would you recommend .

It’s our first cruise to Norway and we can’t decide which excursion to take . The Mount Dalsnibba Summit excursion or the Fjord Center and scenic views excursion . We don’t want to spend to long in centres but are interested in learning something about Norwegian life. Is the drive for both these excursions the same , but one offering stops at centers ? TIA

Mount Dalsnibba summit was amazing. Also, at the cafe at the top, get one of the cinnamon buns (unless you have Celiac). I was lucky and the day I went, we had clear skies.

It does not matter who started the thread. Roll Calls are for Cruise Critic members on the same cruise. They get to know one another online before their cruise so there will be all kinds of discussion in the Roll Call thread for their cruise!

 

If one already exists, click the Roll Call title to open the thread and read through the thread to get to know the other Cruise Critic members sailing with you. Then use the dark blue Reply to this topic button to post an introductory post about yourself. I feel sure your fellow Cruise Critic members will welcome you with replies. The specific Cruise Critic Roll Call thread for your line, ship and sail date is the ONLY place on the Cruise Critic message boards where you and your fellow Roll Call thread members may post personal ads about sharing private tours, excursions or transportation with each other to save money. There is a "captive audience" there since you are all sailing together! Your fellow Roll Call thread members may have important information posted in your Roll Call thread. Especially those that may have sailed your line, ship or itinerary before. Also, they may have already posted share requests that may interest you. 

 

If you ever need technical help in regard to using the Cruise Critic message board software, go to the Need Help Using the Forums? Check Here! forum. You will see a large amount of "How to..." pinned threads on the forum's first page. Also, browse through the threads in the forum looking for threads of interest. As with other forums on our boards, you may find your fellow Cruise Critic members have already posted questions and received answers that may be of interest to you.

Are these excursions from Geiranger or Hellesylt?

 

If they’re from Geiranger,

 I’d choose Dalsnibba, because you will sail the full length of the fjord on the ship, and you can just go out on deck and enjoy the fjord-cruising views as you arrive. (I recommend a top deck, where you can easily move from one side to the other if you want to admire all the waterfalls.)

 

If you’re only sailing to Hellesylt, it would depend on your other ports. If you don’t have any deep fjord cruising on the itinerary, I’d pick the cruise through Geiranger to maximize the scenery and to get the perspective of how deep and narrow the fjords are. And because the weather at the top of Dalsnibba isn’t always clear.

Could you give us a little more detail about the excursions?  If you are docking in Geiranger, the panoramic bus that visits all of the scenic spots in Geiranger only takes 3 hours, so I think you would also have time to visit a fjord center if you wish on a private excursion.  We have 3 kids and hired a private driver.  Our actual driver wasn't great, but if you found a better one you should be able to visit   Flydalsjuvet, Dalsnibba, Eagle Bend and the fjord center in one day, assuming the fjord center is close to one of those scenic spots.

Geiranger - we walked from the ship to the fjord Centre via the waterfall walk, very nice and didn’t take very long.
