Iceland circumnavigation suite — port? Starboard?

Recommended Posts

We are considering a cruise for next summer on the Grandeur which will circumnavigate Iceland counter-clockwise. In considering suite location is  viewing ‘better’ on port side (presumably closer to the shore side) or starboard ( closer to the ocean side)?  Or, does it not really make a difference? We realize we won’t know what side the ship will tie up on while in port— we’re curious about while we’re underway and in our suite.
…..overthinking perhaps?

thanks all!

Yes, you are overthinking this.

Did July '24 Splendor circumnavigate, Reykjavik-back to Reykjavik, as second segment of a B/t/B.  Most transits from one Iceland Port to the next were at night.

Wonderful experience.  Weather, more-or-less, cooperated.

Safe travels.

The ship circles the island clockwise, so choose Starboard. But you probably won't see much anyway, since the ship sails out pretty far. We didn't from our Starboard cabin. More interesting are the sailings into and out of the fjords, which can be seen from both sides.

Definitely "shore side."  Even a long way off-shore, you may be able to see the sky-glow from the eruptions and other interesting things ashore.  The "sea-side" will give you a view of...the sea.
