Dejlig Ko Posted September 10 #1 Share Posted September 10 If I remember correctly the price of an upgrade to unlimited WiFi went up quite a bit once I got on board my last NCL cruise. Was that a fluke or normal practice. The photo is for my next cruise, a 16 day transatlantic this fall. Any experience, thoughts and tip are appreciated. hallux Posted September 10 #2 Share Posted September 10 I paid $205 net on the second day of a 15 day cruise in January. It was $350 with a $145 credit for my 300 minutes from Free At Sea. Another 2 days would be $410 and then the credit for the FAS minutes. Here is my thought on buying internet on embarkation day - you're paying full price for 7 hours of internet access. You typically don't sail out of range (as long as you're outside) until 5 or 6 PM) and most people don't need it while they sleep, upgrade when you wake up on day 2 and save that $30 or so. Asawi Posted September 10 #3 Share Posted September 10 You can start using your free minutes and upgrade on day two or three if you want to. I don't upgrade so I don't know much about prices, but I have seen the upgrade dropping around $30 per day for at least day two and three. Sometimes longer. Even though I'm not at all sure about this, it's my impression that price when embarking is the same as pre-cruise in the app.
Rare BirdTravels Posted September 10 #4 Share Posted September 10 2 cents. As more people arrive and embark the ship(s), the cell service in the embarkation port goes down hill fast. In a port like Miami, 10’s of thousands of passengers hitting the cell towers. All video chatting to show off their cruise. The cell service gets to the point of being unusable. We normally transition to the ship’s unlimited WiFi service after lunch on embarkation day. 1
