Rare DaKahuna Posted September 22 Author #76 Share Posted September 22 @Best Cat Mom BCD and I just closed the TSL. Despite having an extra hour to sleep tonight we all had a very long day and after two night caps decided to call it a night. If you ever have the opportunity to sail with them take it. They are a delightful couple and have many interesting stories to share. Good night from the Seascape. 2 1
MonsterJoe Posted September 22 #77 Share Posted September 22 3 hours ago, DaKahuna said: No there are two muster stations for YC - C and D both on the same deck. When we got off the elevator, C was to the right, D (ours) was to the left - 10 steps, scan the card, turn around, 10 steps back to the elevator where a Butler was waiting. Dani the YC director even rode up with us in our elevator. Counting him there were 8 of us .. six guest, a butler and Dani. Interesting...our first interaction with Dani was also riding up the elevator with him (solo) after muster. That was also our last group interaction with him...I ran into him a few more time and went through what felt like were force platitudes..but with no overall complaints I was left with the idea the he led a good crew

We were pleased to serve as his advance team. There is a link in my signature to our live thread from our transatlantic on her last year and a Caribbean on her this past April. She's a cozy ship and the crew always talk about how much they like that the YC is a bit smaller. They say it allows them to get to know everyone better. We have cruised Celebrity for the last 10 years. Thank you These are the differences between Retreats and Yacht Clubs....#1 MSC Yacht Club Restaurant is OPEN port days. Celebrity Luminae is NOT open port days. #2 MSC YC has reserved seating in the theatre for YC guests at all shows. Celebrity only Gala night. #3 Royal Suite on MSC has 2 cushion deck lounges on the balcony. Celebrity RS can only accommodate 1 non cushioned deck lounger. #4 MSC has reserved pergolas/cabanas for RS & OS.. Celebrity on sundeck; it is FCFS chair hoggers that get those. #5 More attentive butlers on MSC . Celebrity hosts give one their telephone number which many times is forwarded to room service. #6 Walk-in showers on MSC YC, Celebrity has low profile tub/shower combos in CS and SS. #7 Elevator OVERRIDE key cards for suite guests on MSC. No such amenity on Celebrity. #8 No non-suite paying Diamond card holders taking up real estate in YC venues. Celebrity has non suite Zeniths in our venues. #9 MSC All suites are within a gated community with a short climb up or down to all venues. Celebrity depends on what ship. #10 MSC a new pristine Ocean Cay out island with its own employees and no bugs crawling all over the lounges. Celebrity has mostly Nassau. #11 MSC offers Individual escorts on and off the ship. Celebrity one must assemble and be escorted off in groups (always waiting for some straggler). #12 For those that enjoy buffets MSC YC has its own buffet at the One Pool Deck #13 Celebrity has one great feature that MSC lacks; Cafe al Bacio has no peer on MSC for its selection of 12-14 mouth-watering pastries. #14 YC has the best entertainers on the ship providing evening music in the TopSail Lounge, nothing in the Retreat Lounge. #15 YC Pool Deck has a pool, only Celebrity E-class ships have a pool. #16 MSC YC has much better price than the Retreat

We will consider it an appetizer of sorts to our February YC cruise on the same ship. You might have to stay within the confines of the Yacht Club. 3 nighter outside the YC can be a mosh pit. 1

Rare DaKahuna Posted September 22 Author #87 Share Posted September 22 Good morning. After a good night’s sleep we both woke up ahead of our alarm clock. My DW had placed an order for room service breakfast whereas I prefer the dining room. So I hung out in our room until her breakfast arrived. That’s when I remembered why we don’t normally do room service for breakfast. She does not like egg yoke but the ‘breakfast sandwich’ is essentially eggs benedict. No other egg options. So after her meal arrived I went to the restaurant. i had eggs benedict, without the sauce, and a side of ham. Three cups of coffee, an orange juice, glass of water, and my breakfast consumed I went down to the TSL for a mimosa. Drank one at the bar and had Kasandra make me one to go! My breakfast view My breakfast and my ‘to go’ order.

Once onboard they do a fantastic job. Have a great cruise. Don't forget that the only MSC employees in the YC waiting areas are the butlers. The port check in is managed by the port authority, and they primarily use contractors who march to the beat of their own drum. The failure of the offer of a refill is on MSC, the rest is not. In fairness to the butler, he/she may have been thinking that boarding was imminent, Again, MSC is dependent on the port and federal authorities. I was amazed at the large number of B2B guest from outside the YC. @Best Cat Mom I believe said there was only six couples, or maybe six guest in YC doing B2B, but outside the YC there were a whole lot.
Rare DaKahuna Posted September 22 Author #90 Share Posted September 22 We spent a little time after breakfast in the room and then around 1000 decided to leave and give our assistant butler time to clean up our mess. We wandered out into the “general population” area of the ship and we are still surprised at how uncrowded it is. We are having a little trouble navigating around the ship but are becoming more and more familiar with the layout the more we venture out. I am sure by the end of the week, we’ll have little/no difficulty finding things. For now there are calm seas and the Captain just announced there is a change to our itinerary because of the typhoon in the Western Caribbean and tonight we will be setting our clocks forward and will be proceeding to Grand Turk island tomorrow instead of Jamaica.

4supermom Posted September 22 #93 Share Posted September 22 John, What are the differences you have noticed between Divina & Seascape? We’ve only done MSC on Divina (in YC). Are there more true suites (separate living/bedroom areas with a door between) on Seascape since she is a larger ship?

There are two Owners Suites and two Royal Suites on Seascape. I am not sure if they are true doors or not. We’ve only stayed in the YC1 and YCP suites which are single room with an open shelf divider.
