SushiBailey Posted September 24 #1 Share Posted September 24 Hi, we will be cruising to Georgetown, Grand Cayman in January 2025. We have never been and can't wait to go. We love shopping, nature and wildlife. Is there a MUST excursion anyone could recommend? I realize everyone is different in what they like. We are hoping to go to the Turtle Centre, but if it isn't available, having some recommendations would be helpful. Thank you!
ggTexasGal Posted Thursday at 12:40 PM #2 Share Posted Thursday at 12:40 PM I usually look at a sight like: https://www.thingstodocayman.net/best-beaches-in-grand-cayman/ Doing that gives me an idea of what is available and where sights are located. Following that, I use a map program to see if other points of interest/activities are also located in the area (or nearby along the route). In the past, we would take excursions through the ship. However, we now have chosen to take a bus to our starting point of choice, and then walk to assorted sights along the route (heading back to the port). We've been able to see more things this way, than we would have on an excursion with other people. We also enjoy the benefit of burning off extra calories! CRUSINGFAMILY Posted Thursday at 05:06 PM #3 Share Posted Thursday at 05:06 PM I can highly recommend Captain Marvin's for water adventure. Check their website to see if it interests you. The turtle farm is doable on your own if sold out.

bookbabe Posted Saturday at 04:23 PM #5 Share Posted Saturday at 04:23 PM Some options to investigate further: Stingray City (#1 attraction here) Turtle Centre (with a stop in Hell) Queen Elizabeth botanical gardens Crystal Caves Pedro St James historical site DIY East End tour, including blowholes and Parrot Sanctuary Kittiwake snorkel (or dive) beaches (too many to list) You will have missed the vast majority of what this fabulous island has to offer if you just shop downtown or at Camana Bay. SushiBailey Posted 12 hours ago Author #6 Share Posted 12 hours ago We signed up for the Turtle Centre, and afterwards we will go shopping. Is Camana Bay near the port? Or, what is the best way to get there? Thanks!

If you are on an excursion, you could ask the driver about dropping you off at or near Camana Bay on the way back. Depending on which route they take, you will either pass the footpath from Seven Mile Beach to Camana Bay or Camana Bay itself on the way back to the port. Then you’d need to have one of the stores or the visitor centre call you a taxi to get back to the port on your own.
