Stateroom Upgrade Offers

We are two months out from our sailing and have had a few upgrade offers come and go, but they have all been very high.  For anyone with experience with upgrade offers, how much if at all did the offers change closer to sailing?  Have you ever called Carnival and been offered something different from what you received on the website?

Really all depends on what you currently have vs what they are offering and what you like or want. Normally it is a pretty set offer. Cabin # etc.. Think just about all the cruises I have been on they offered something else. But I picked the cabin originally for a reason.

The upsell offers are targeted to people in specific locations/room categories to help move you to underselling room categories/locations and resell your current stateroom.  The offers are not open to negotiation nor available to those not targeted.  If you get one and think it is worth the extra cost, book it.

I have already done my research so I know if the upsell is a good deal for me. Do a mock booking for your sailing and figure out the difference for the next level(s) up. I was offered an upsell and it wasn’t any better than what I could have booked for myself initially.

I had an upsell offer for my 9/30 cruise (4-day) from a 4D interior to a balcony right by elevators and over the dining room for $180.  I declined it.  I'm on a casino rate which was really good and didn't feel like spending the money.  I prefer the aft cabins on Deck 7.

We are booked on a cruise for Thanksgiving and have gotten "upgrade offers" to go from a cove balcony to a balcony on a higher deck for $120.  This is a terrible deal in our opinion.  Back when we booked this cruise, we could have booked a balcony on a higher floor for $30 more, but we prefer cove balconies.  

According to Carnival (this is actually written on our offer) -  "higher decks are always better".

I disagree, I'd rather be closer to the water, but as a shareholder, I like this marketing strategy. 😄
