SanFranBayCruiser: I've e-mailed you, but didn't want to bother you again, and also thought maybe someone else could answer my question:

When it says 3rd & 4th passenger rates are subject to change, are they likely to go up substantially? It wouldn't prevent us from booking, I'm just curious.

That's an excellent question. I haven't received our Travel Agent contact information yet and, Laura is out until this coming Monday; however, as soon as she returns, I'll ask her about the air and the 3rd and 4th passenger questions and also get our Travel Agent contact information so every can start booking.

Hi,

What about a military discount? Wondering if that would apply to this cruise? Might be interested in joining you lovely people. Please post when you know about this.

Thanks.

Typically military discounts cannot be used with groups. We have tried with other CC groups, and it has been a no-go :(

Thanks GoinCruisin but, I'll double check anyhow, you never know and never hurts to ask, right?

I posted this on the other thread so if you're reading both this will be duplicate information:

I emailed Laura that we have enough people committed or in some cases already booked to go ahead with the group and make us "official". Some of you have been emailing with a lot of really good questions. I'll post them here and I ask you to add to the list. When Laura returns on Monday, I'll get the answers from her or from our assigned travel agent.

Here's the list...so far...

If we already booked directly with Carnival, can we transfer the reservation into the group?

Can we get group air?

Can we get some type of group hotel deal for pre or post cruise stays in Rome?

Additionally, I want to add that I'm lucky enough to have a "built in" Roman (and overall Italy) expert who will be traveling with us on this cruise. One of my good friends lived in Italy for a number of years and, he is fluent in Italian and he'll be our "go to guy" for all Italy related questions. He'll be able to guide you worthwhile sites to see, restaurants and just general knowledge like how to mail something home from Italy.

And again if for any reason you'd rather not post on here please email me at groupleadercarnivalfreedom0507@gmail.com

for group bookings the 3rd and 4th passenger rate does fluctuate and will go as the market. But on our group--the 3rd and 4th passenger rate did not change much.

Coming up wtih 2000.00 to book for a family of 4 is rough. Groups do sometimes close even if the sailing is not sold out. If this is a group you want to do-- I say book it ASAP coz I bet we will see it sold out shortly.

Your 1st and 2nd person pricing is locked in til its sold out-- or final payment --what ever comes first.

I wish I could do a cruise like this but have to wait for the man to retire. Cant take off two weeks in a row...so we miss out. (sigh)

Thanks Serene56: we are actually already booked on the 3/14 sailing, but want to switch to the group cruise....so the checking account is already $2,000 less than it was at the beginning of the week!

Oh well, I look at it this way: a significant chunk of the cruise cost already paid! (Of course, there's still the air, hotels, excursions, etc.! But with more than a year to plan, it won't seem so bad spread out over all those months...)

I just didn't want to find out the kids would have to pay a lot more...do you think it would be reasonable to assume the 3rd & 4th passenger rates won't surpass the 1st and 2nd passenger rates?

Thanks again!

only if they are running short of quad cabins will you see the price go higher then the 1st two. If that was the case they want you to book 2 cabins for two instead of one cabin for 4.

If I may-- what is the price difference for the one you booked already? dont factor in the amenities

Serene56: The total difference between the two was $480, not considering the $100 on board credit, $50 casino credit, etc.

I wasn't 100% comfortable booking the maiden voyage, but had convinced the family that it would be an adventure. I feel better thinking we won't be the first group sailing a new ship on a new itinerary. Hopefully, some of the inevitable glitches will be worked out, and the crew will have had a chance to "find their groove", at least a little!

Also, the 4/19 trip is 5 weeks later, which should mean better weather all around: warmer temperatures (while not truly hot) and less chance of rain.

Those are my thoughts....Thanks for your input!

You know, I had focused on your question, and forgot to ask you to clarify something. I read your response as stating that the kids could indeed end up paying as much (or more) as 1st & 2nd passengers. Yikes! I do get the quad cabin problem, though.

I'm just thinking that on this particular itinerary in April, it shouldn't be much of a problem. Do you think I'm being naive?

Our kids are too small to be in a cabin by themselves (they'll be 8 and 4 as of the sailing date.) Splitting us up (1 adult and 1 child per cabin) won't work either. Part of what makes cruising work for us as a family is we pick the kids up from camp at 10, settle them (easy as they have had such a full day and are up so far beyond their normal bedtime), mom settles in with a good book, and dad generally hits the casino for a while. If we're split between two cabins, mom ends up with the kids and dad has a bachelor pad!! LOL

You seem to have an excellent grasp of the system, and I appreciate your thoughts. Thanks!

hmm that is tough- because if you want to book 4 people for a quad cabin I say book it soon. As the ship is new as is the itinerary this will sell quickly.

Last year when Carnival dabbeled with the Med cruises with the new Liberty it sold out very quickly. The freedom is going to other new ports. and I would bet the same thing happens.

For this cruise there is a huge differnce between the 1st two and the 2nd two so I would say a lot of friends are going to double up. For one couple to cruise will cost them 1689 each- putting the 4 friends together they will pay only 1200 each. thats almost 500 pp differnce- a lot of money to some

In a group pricing-- what you see on the carnival web page for the 3rd & 4th rate is what your price will be. Since it changes thats the price you would pay when booking

I just wanted to let everyone know that if they attempted or are attempting to get in touch with Neal today (Monday, April 3). He left at 4pm. :( Tomorrow is another day. Also note, he is located on the East Coast in New Hampshire so allow for time zone differences!
