October weather in the Panama Canal

Being near the equator the weather is always the same year round. It will be warm to hot and humid. Make sure you keep hydrated as heat stroke is not uncommon and when outside be sure to keep your head covered. We are on the Infinity for the Oct. 8th cruise from Ft. Lauderdale to San Pedro (Los Angeles) This will be our 3rd time through the canal. Marvin

Most of Panama is situated just a few degrees (8) above the equator, so temperatures vary little from month to month. What does vary is the rainfall and humidity.

Panama City is at sea level, so the climate is quite warm and humid (depends on the month), similar to Miami. Air conditioning is everywhere: taxis, hotels, stores, restaurants...and the locals are quite used to it. Light city clothing is recommended for Panama City. Walking the city at noon can be uncomfortable, but the early mornings and evenings are fantastic. Beach towns and the islands are warm, but a nice breeze and lower humidity on some islands makes it quite pleasant for beach goers.

Days are warm to hot, nights much cooler; temperatures range from 32 ?C (90 ?F) during the daytime to 21 ?C (70 ?F) in the evening practically year-round. Humidity is always high at about 80 percent. The rainy season takes place between October and November.

I agree, that October & November are the Rainy season. This doesn't mean that is rains all day or for days at a time. Just that you are more subject to clouds and rain showers/storms can move through. On our Panama Canal cruise at 7 a.m. it was hot on deck, by 10 a.m. shoulders were burning from the sun, by 1 p.m. it was Raining hard! It was probably our best cruise yet. The later in the season last week of October into November is a good time to sail.

Bon voyage

We sailed the Panama Canal in October 2004, and it was absolutely broiling. We were allowed out on the bow deck, and it was impossible to stay there for more than a few minutes because of the heat, and I've lived in Southwest Florida for 30 years and am somewhat accustomed to heat!
