mederm33 Posted April 5, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 5, 2006 Longtime lurker...first time poster. Having previously sailed on Voyager and more recently Vision of the Seas--we are now planning on sailing on the AOS. We will be doing the Barbados, Antigua, St. Lucia, etc itinerary and purchasing a balcony cabin. For island viewing from the balcony is it better to be on the port or starboard side? We are currently holding stateroom 7660. Does anyone have any experience with this cabin. Also, what about noise factors--we have heard anchors early in the AM when we sailed in the forward cabins and lots of vibration in the aft cabins. I have read where we should avoid deck 6 balconies due to increased metal. Any other opinions or cant miss excursions. Thanks. :)
mederm33 Posted April 5, 2006 Author #2 Share Posted April 5, 2006 Also, does anyone know or have a working link for the Cruise director and captain of the May 28th, 2006 sailing? Thanks.
cb at sea Posted April 5, 2006 #3 Share Posted April 5, 2006 It really depends which way the ship docks. Sometimes they pull in--sometimes they back in! It's a crapshoot.! Pick the cabin you like, and you won't be disappointed. (If your room doesn't overlook what you want to see, there are plenty of spaces on deck to look!) spbflseas Posted April 5, 2006 #4 Share Posted April 5, 2006 It has been a few years since we sailed this itinerary on the AOS. However, as I recall, the starboard side was the better choice to see the island when we sailed her. However, to see old San Juan, while you are docked, the port side was the better choice. One of our sailings on AOS was in forward most balcony room on deck 6. No noise problems, no anchor problems (you dock in all the ports). The AOS is our favorite ship. You will have a blast!!! stargate fan Posted April 6, 2006 #5 Share Posted April 6, 2006 On our cruise back in February, the ship pulled into port so that the port side had the view of the city. As we neared the third island, the captain announced that he was going in backwards so the starboard passengers had a chance for a great view. It sounds like it's up to the captain's discretion.
