Back to Back same cruise?????

Has anyone ever did back to back same cruise before? And if so did you get bored?

The ports are not a problem for us as there are many different things to do in port.

We just thought we may get bored staying on the same boat for 14 days.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I have not - YET - but I have one planned in Dec/Jan this year. :D I know that I always am sorry when the 7 day cruise is over and wish I could stay on board - so I am going to try it!

Would love to hear from others that have done the btb. I know MrLee has - so maybe he will chime in!

We did it , ports were OK because they were all different, On the ship everything was the same, shows, even the same jokes on the same nights with the CD. Food the same on the same nights. It's nice to stay onboard for 2 weeks but we would not do it again would try to change ships for the 2nd week.

Thanks for the input... We do have the option to take another ship the second week, We just thought it would be more convenient to stay on the same ship.

I will check into the other ships that are sailing on our return date.

We also did a b2b staying on board the same ship for 14 days.(Victory) We had a great time.....enjoyed having the same cabin and not having to pack up after the first week. Yes, the dinners and shows are the same for the second week, but what we missed the first week, we saw on the second week. Next Jan. we will be doing a b2b on two different ships.........we were able to get a better deal with a balcony cabin on the second ship, so that was the deciding factor for us. Either way, same ship or two different ships.........2 weeks in the Carribean, it's ALL GOOD:)

Ports probably wouldn’t be an issue if you are doing a b2b cruise. 7 & 8 day cruises alternate their itinerary every other week. So the first week you might be doing a Western and the second an Eastern. I would love to have the time to be able to do a b2b. Maybe some day.

Barbara J.W., can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that even if you're in the same cabin, you still have to disembark and re-embark between cruises. If that's true, I'd think it somewhat -- though not entirely -- diminishes the convenience of doing the same cruise back-to-back.

Not necessarily. Just take your Docs, CC, and Passport/DL, and leave the rest in your cabin.

I am guessing if you don't have the same cabin you will have to take your luggage off? Or will they move it if you leave it in your cabin packed up???

It is an immigration/customs requirement that you get off and back on. 10 of us were told to meet, in a lounge, and someone from the Pursers office escorted us off, right through customs, and then back on. When we got back on they gave us a whole new set of room keys etc.All we had to take off the ship was our Passports.

If you switch cabins you have to pack and they move the suitcases for you. If you book far enough ahead, or the same cabin you are in is available, then you do not need to pack.

Try to pace yourself the first cruise and not do everything. That way you have plenty to do both weeks. But as others have mentioned, same menus, same shows, same jokes, same activities.

Frequently on the second week the Hotel Director will have a gift put in your room. Flowers, T-shirts, or Champagne.

Doing back to back actually is more relaxing because you don't feel the need to see everything the first time around. On one cruise I liked one of the shows so much that I saw it three times!

Make sure you have the same wait staff, if possible, then there is no learning curve for any of you.

There is so much to do on the islands even if you go to the same ones it can be a different experience. I love snorkleing and beaches so sometimes I just go to a different beach, other islands I have a favorite beach and always go back to it.

If you switch ships, within the same cruise line, you can ask the Pursers Office to make arrangements to move your luggage and they will do so. That way you can take an excursion or rent a taxi/car so you are not just killing time at the port. That can be very boring.

When we went on the 12 night Galaxy cruise out of Galveston, there was a retired couple who got off the Grand Princess and right onto the Galaxy. Different ships and different ports which to me would make it a lot more interesting. They cruised for 19 nights and just had the one time to-and-from port expenses.

I think that if I were staying on the same ship, I would try to pick one with alternating weekly port schedules so that that at least would change. Just mho.

Not all ships seem to do the alternating itineraries. Does anyone know which ones do. We too are looking at doing b2b next year and I would like to stay on the same ship but would prefer different ports. Not that it would matter, since we've done most of the ports in the Caribbean in the last couple of years.

We are doing the Glory back to back in September. First is the 7 Day Eastern Caribbean and the second is the 7 Day Western Caribbean. I have the same cabin booked for both. The Glory alternates routes.

We will fly in the day before, rent a car at Orlando and then spend the rest of the day at Cocoa Beach.

The first leg we will see Nassau, St. Thomas and St. Maarten and the second leg will be Key West, Belize and Cozumel.

After the 14 days when we return I will rent a car and go over to the Space Center at Kennedy. Then drive over to Orlando and the next day we will spend at Disney. Then the following day we will fly home.

For starters the airplane tickets cost the same if we go over for one week or if we go for two weeks. Having a hotel room for one night before and one or two nights after is what we always do, so no added cost there.

If we are in the area we just may as well see Cocoa Beach, Kennedy and Disney. We almost always spend some time in the area when we return from a cruise. (no worries about making a flight etc etc).

14 days on a ship is okay. We did a 14 day repo on the Elation when they moved from LA to Galveston.

With my military discount we received almost $1,000 off the two cruises.

I'm retired, so that helps with not having to worry about time off from work.

Meals on the ship are no problem. I can eat steak every night and not get bored. (I can eat hamburgers everyday)

The shows are something that we skip on and off.

I may be retired but if I don't stay out of the casino I may have to find a job when we get home.

In a nutshell I think B2B is the way for us to go.

Victory out of Miami does alternating eastern, western carr.

Thanks for the info, I am thinking we might switch ships seeing as the Valor is in port on the same day we return on the Elation.

It would be really nice if they would move the luggage from ship to ship, I will definatly check into that.

Barbara- how very bizarre. You should have been taken with the pursers desk off and right back on. Defeats the purpose if you needed to wait to get back on. Booking B2B you should have had the run of the ship when no other passengers were onboard for at least 2-hours.

THE LAST PERSON TO GET OFF.....

I WENT THROUGH CUSTOMS AND WENT ON OUT TO GET

BACK IN LINE TO BOARD THE SHIP AGAIN.......

AFTER GOING THROUGH SECURITY,I DIDN'T HAVE TO GO THROUGH

THE LINE TO CHECK PAPERWORK.........THEY SENT

ME TO ONE OF THE LADIES,AND SHE TYPED ME IN AND

I WAS MOVED TO THE FRONT OF THE LINE............

I CHATTED WITH THE WORKERS THERE AT THE PORT............

AND WHEN THE SHIP WAS READY I WAS FIRST TO GET ON..........:)

My dream too! ;)

I wish Carnival would schedule a round trip Hawaii /Tahiti from San Diego or Ensanada. Round trip airfares are so much better than one way. If they did this I would book in a heartbeat! Maybe one of those 9A cabins with a wrap around... now there is a dream!:)

For now I will try my first btb on the Triumph. Eastern Carib then Western:D
