Forgotten items in staterooms

On our first cruise (on the Mariner) I noticed that one of the drawers near the desk wasn't closing quite right. I stuck my hand back in there, and pulled out a bra which was partially caught in the tracks that the drawer runs on.

I agree that the room steward are pretty careful. On that same cruise, I brought along my laptop in order to download my digital photos. After a couple of days, I burned a CD as a backup. Somehow, I messed up the first CD I made and threw it in the trash can. The next day, the CD was sitting on the desk. Again, I threw it in the trash can...and the next time the trash was emptied, it appeared on the desk again. Obviously our room steward thought we were accidentally throwing away a good CD. By this point, we thought it was pretty funny! :) I threw it in the trash again, but wrote across the front of it, "Really Matt, it's okay to throw it away! :) "

Years ago on a CCL ship I had the same cabins as my sister and her family--we did not arrange this prior. SHe sailed a few weeks after we did.

I stuck a note on the back of the couch for her to find...she never did get it.

So they must have moved the furniture and found it.

On Explorer 2 years ago I left my pillow in the cabin and did not realize it until we were getting our luggage. My hubby immediately tried to get back on the ship-no way. They sent security up to my cabin to get the pillow. What a relief that was!

My husband likes to make a game of 'find what's left behind'....

He pulls out drawers, moves the sofa out and looks under the nightstands.

he has found bras, underwear still in the package, single socks, shorts, swimsuit top, empty prescription bottle, about $6 in change, several pairs of packaged panty hose, and a couple of paper back books. Plus we found the room steward hiding place for the stuff he removed out of the fridge, there is a space under the nightstands and all the sodacans were under there.

Most things are found jammed behind the drawers. We bagged up all the stuff except the soda/money and threw it away. We left the books in the room.

Us ladies must have to overstuff thoses tiny drawers since that is where we find most of the stuff.

One time we went into our cabin and there were popped balloons all over the floor in front of the balcony drawer and the trash was still full......

Yep, last March on the Brilliance, we too found a bra, underpants, shorts, face-masks and pantyhose, these were all at the back of the drawers which had obviously fallen out, we just made the room steward aware, and i too had thrown out some stuff in the waste bin only to find it back on the dresser the next day  , so dont forget folks, check out what has fallen out of your drawers during your cruise :D

There is a great thread on the FlyerTalk boards about all the porn that is left behind in hotel rooms and the hiding places (between mattress and box springs, behind/under the drawers in the desk and dresser, etc.). I wonder if anyone has found anything, uh, naughty, on a cruise??:o

But I did want to say that only on this last cruise did we find anything significant in our room from prior cruisers----

There was a pair of black flip flops under the lowest shelf in the closet. There was a full bottle of Sprite and a half-eaten can of cashews both in the cabinet that is behind where the ice bucket/tray lives.

I think that the room stewards have to cover too much ground----they are spread too thin and have too much to do on turnaround day.

3 bottles of half full Clamatto Juice in the bar of our Grand Suite :(

I was a bit grossed out.

You'd be really unhappy if you opened my fridge.

I would call this careless house-keeping but it's not gross.

I do wonder what all these ladies are doing without their bras.

Thankfully we have extra bras:D It's not like you wear the same one every day!

I think we have found black socks, but that's about it. I came across them on the floor and put them on the bed, assuming they belonged to DH. He said..."They're not mine!" So I threw them in the wastebasket, which also took several attempts. I think I finally tossed them in the trash can by the elevators so they couldn't find their way back.:D

I'm a boy in a non-bra household. Forgive me. I did go to Vistoria's secret with a friend who was shopping once and I was stunned at the prices. You ladies sure pay a lot more for your unmentionables than men do!

I became a "liberated woman" for 10 or 15 years, eschewing bras. When I decided to wear them again, boy, I suffered sticker shock. Bras that I remembered costing $6 to $10 were now in the $35 range!

When I'm on vacation, I go as bra-less as I can.... I let the "girls" run free....its verry liberating!

Probly why so many get found in the back of a drawer is they don't get as much attention as the do back home :D (the bra that is :p )

I found two pair of shoes in a drawer. Gave them to the steward. Then I read in the Compass that everything unclaimed at the end of the cruise is given to charity...so when we later found a pair of earrings in the safe, I brought them home and "advertised" several times on several threads, but no one ever claimed them. I still have them. Would like to find the owner.

Actually they say that everything except jewelry, cameras and electronics get donated. Those items go to their Risk Management department for anyone who calls to claim them. So you might want to call and find out if anyone inquired about them.

Someone on here commented that the cabin stewards are just too busy on "turnaround" day - which is why they seem to overlook the half eaten or half full bottles of food and drink that may be left in the fridges or in the bar in my case.

In my opinion, this is just sloppy behaviour. I know the cabin attendants are very busy and quite rushed, but c'mon! Leaving leftover food items from the previous cabin occupants is just plain disgusting. I'd rather give them an extra hour or so on "turnaround" day so that they can do a proper job of cleaning and disinfecting a cabin - if I was told I couldn't access my cabin until 3 or 4pm that would be fine by me.....I'd just hang around the pool or explore the ship while I waited, at least I would know that my cabin was being "turned around" properly. :o

I'm surprised that half-eaten food int he fridge would be common. Don't they need to check them for bar items that might have been consumed or need restocking?

You'd think so wouldn't you???
