What is a Taxi Ride to Orient Beach going for these days?

Haven't been to the island in a couple of years and wondering if it wouldn't be cheaper to just rent a car. Thanks for any real recent visitors that can let me know what they paid. Thank you!

We were there last week. Sign posted read $18.00 for two people total or $6.00 for 5 or more. There were lots of people waiting for the van, so getting a load was no problem. We paid $6.00 each.

I think that if you walk into town you can flag down a van that says "bus" instead of "Taxi" on the license plate and it is $2 per person. The vans look the same! Just tell the driver where you want to go and they will get you on the right bus. They go to most places... but not all. Brian

The bus-vans do NOT go to Orient Beach. They will stop on the highway but from there, one would have a walk(10-20 minutes) in the hot sun schlepping beach gear. The taxis take you directly to the beach.
