This will be a quick little review - boss may come in and bust me!! Need my $$ for the next cruise!!

4/7 - Radisson was great!! Stayed by the pool until we forced ourselves to go to bed - at 4am all 4 of us (adults I might add) woke up and just laughed when my buddy said "I AM TOO EXCITED TO SLEEP!" We did try to go back to sleep and woke up at 6!!

4/8 - Shuttle appt at 11:45 - very fast to load and leave - had VIP checkin and were on the LIDO by 1245

sat by the pool - drink of the day was miami vice (yummy)

Went to casino for the lanyards...

4/9 - KEY WEST - stood in line with all the others and waited to leave - got to know some people and then someone mentioned that we looked like cattle and that is all it took - the mooing started - it really made the wait a little more fun.. Irish Kevin, Hogbreath, Sloppy Joes, Whistle Bar, and the Garden of Eden were our stops... and the shops of course...

Dinner that night in the dining room - met Harry & Eveline, they were GREAT!!

4/10 - DAY AT SEA - get out there early, (send hubby) then relieve him for breakfast.. well worth the "up early hour" Hot day, but so much fun!!

4/11 - Belize - once you have seen it - "nuf said" We just stayed at the port shops and went to Wet Lizard and another bar at the docks, cant think of the name - Port 1 - live band - it was good!! DO NOT make the mistake of going outside the security wall - we were hounded by VOODOO looking people that wanted to braid, sell, etc..... we got back in a hurry..

4/12 - Costa Maya - GREAT!! Went to Tequila Beach - local excursion - all you can eat, drink, lounge chairs, table and umbrella and white sand!! 30.00 per person!!

4/13 - Day at Sea - what can I say - it was WONDERFUL - Samson is the man to have - Mich Ultra bucket - extra ice!! :o)

4/14 - Day at Sea - Again, a great day, kinda sad to know we had to leave, but we made the best of it (wink, wink)

4/ 15 -self assist if you can - we were on the Rad shuttle by 830 and on I95 by 9... still sad..

I will review the night time excitement on another post!!!

We docked at the Old Naval Base, I didnt see a "name" of the pier and the shuttle dropped us right outside the Hogsbreath Saloon - driver was entertaining and took us down some really pretty streets before dropping us...

HEY ELF!!! We did have a blast!!! Cant wait to do it again, but WILL be taking time off in October next time - Is that a safe bet to avoid the hurricane season?? Anyone??

Our daughter is getting married Fall 2007, so hubby and I are looking at Bermuda in the Spring.;) I decided there was no way I could wait til 2008 for another cruise! October is usually...... usually pretty, though given last year, I'm not sure I'd say guaranteed!

Piano Bar (Ronnie, he could have been Lionel Ritchie's Dad, in appearance) was ok, but we needed something more lively, White Heat was Great, one night was 70's/80's and we REALLY like that, one night was Rock and it was fun but only lasted an hour

The Legends show was good according to hubby - The Ebony Lounge was good, The Breeze Band was wonderful but not enough people were in there!! I felt bad for them!!

Glad to hear you had a great cruise. We will be cruising on April 29 and staying at the Radisson the night before and will be shuttled to the ship, is this shuttle a big bus? (I know I'm way over packing.)

Thanks,

Yep, it was a pretty big bus - driver was talkative - we had a McDonalds Biscuit and a Blood Mary by the pool while waiting...... Breakfast of Champions!!

I over packed for sure - but we disembarked ourselves - that was a hoot!! 2 rollons each and a shoulder bag, I am still feeling strained muscles!

They offer a special laundry service the 2nd day for 15.00 we got LOTS of clothes washed so you could clean what you wear at the Rad and the drive in!!

Hey neighbor Leigh!

We have the Western run on May 6th, too! I totally agree on Belize; we've been there before, 'cept we didn't even get off the ship last time!! Was there an oldies theme night? What was the theme of the deck party? We made an advance reservation for the Rad shuttle cuz we were told we really needed to do that now........true?

Glad to hear the better parts of your cruise and you know exactly why we don't cruise during Spring Break. Thankfully, the kids are gone and we don't work in the school system

I work in the school and already told them that I would be taking personal days in October!!

The Deck Party Theme - lets see - cheerleading/gymnastics?? That was about all we saw..... really, too many kids..... oh, and I saw a few "summer loves" going on...

There was a 60/70 theme in the disco one night..

AND YES on the advance shuttle at the Rad - we made one and when we got there "we dont have your name" so we had to leave an hour later... but that gave us more time for the Bloodies and the McDonalds!! HAHA!

We had *7259 on the Empress deck - it was WONDERFUL!!! As soon as I figure out SnapFish for my pix I will post them (you will prob be back by then)

Smuggled Bottles got in but if anyone takes Crown, hide it..... I know I didnt drink enough to be empty by TUESDAY!! But, still.......

WE HAD A BLAST!!!

Thanks for the review of the Carnival Glory! My husband and I will be on the Glory on May 6th and we are really looking forward to it. This will be cruise number 9 with Carnival, and they just keep getting better and better!

I have seen several posts about the problem for passengers getting off the ship in Key West. Do you recall what time you tried to get off the ship and had that large crowd to deal with? I was wondering if it was better to wait until 1:00 or 1:30 since people are probably all trying to get off when the ship docks at 12:00? If you have any recommendations, I would really appreciate it!

WE didnt even START down to Deck 0 until 1:00 - there was a prob with customs giving the Glory the OK to disembark - we could see the Captain telling them that they were taking too long - we got into KW apx 2ish - may have been a blessing... anymore time we might have missed the ship!! HEHE

Nice review. It's been almost a year since I sailed the Glory's western route :( Belize definitely is an excursion port!

I see you're from Irmo. My parents recently bought a house in Columbia for my brother to move into while going to school at USC!

We sailed the Glory last April (western) and absolutely loved the itinerary and ship. The itinerary is a bit different now but we found that the Key West stop was too short! We, like everyone else, decided to have lunch on the ship before going ashore. Mistake...the lines were very long and then long again getting off the ship and waiting for a shuttle. We docked at the Navy base and then had to take the shuttle into town. The shuttle wasn't like a bus...more of an open air type tram like you would see at Disney, etc. I don't think we got into down until around 2. We did the Old Town Trolley tour (on our own) and it was great. Best way to see the area and the tour guide was wonderful. Wished we had more time around Duval Street though. The sunset celebrations at Mallory Square are the best...don't understand why the ship doesn't stay until 8 or so?? If I were going to KW again, I would get off the ship as soon as the announcement is made and either take a lunch from room service or have lunch in town. Glad you enjoyed the Glory. We did too!

You had to clear customs when you came from Port Canaveral to Key West!? I thought if you didn't have a foreign port you wouldn't have to clear customs in another US port. Glad I didn't plan an excursion in Key West as of yet.
