CCL Stock Credit

I wonder if this is combinable with other cabin credits, such as the one day special they are running today?

No, I think I read above you can not double dip on cabin credits.

I think you have to make your initial purchase through a broker. E*Trade or Scottrade (my choice) or some other. This is common for all DRIP accounts. You could then make additional purchases through the CCL stock agent. It's really just easier to purchase and keep it with a broker.

Thanks for the info, I check Scottrade tomorrow.

We received the $100 from TA, and the $100 for stock credit last Sept Liberty cruise, and have the same 2 $100s confirmed for our May 19th Liberty.

Oh?! So there is hope. Wonder if you just lucked out or if it's a Carnival policy, because it does say not combinable with other shipboard offers.

I'll call Carnival tomorrow to confirm. If it's combinable then I'll put a buy transaction. CCL fell to $47.63 today.

Somtimes you just luck out.

If the credit was from the TA and NOT the cruise line I would think that is a completely different ball game. Getting a credit from the TA is like putting the money in your account yourself. :)

I called Carnival, with my booking number.

They confirmed I have the OBC of $100 from the booking on Wed. Also confirmed that I'm still eligible for the shareholder OBC.

So it is combinable.

I'll buy CCL shares by end of Aug. (It jumped this morning after announcing a dividend)

Oh, one other thing. I'll buy it using a joint account between my wife and I. This way in the future when either one of us sail (e.g. my wife and her mom), we can get the OBC for the cabin.

Great. I learned from reading here, and maybe host Terry will confirm, that Carnival seems to be more flexible. Not so with Princess.

Yesterday morning may have been a good time to buy (I actually added up how much I'd need to buy to drop my average). The dividend was already announced, I think it's just up in sympathy with RCL's earnings release this morning. Stocks go up, stocks go down, such is life.

Anyway, I'd glad it works out for you.:)

Probably. I've never actually done this without having held the stock long enough for it to show up on a monthly statement, but they ought to accept a listing of holdings or similar. It takes a few days, so you may not know if they did it before you sail unless you follow up.

As others have said, work directly with the company. I've done it this way with RCL, CCL and Princess. This is one case where they always will work directly with you, even if booked through a TA. I presume they understand that people have no desire to share even an strategically blacked-out brokerage statement with their TA. My TA is a friend, and I still desire to protect that info.

I'd like to buy stock this Monday (April 24) & I'm sailing one week later(May 1). Will I be able to get this done in time to receive credit?

Maybe. You would probably have to fax same day proof of purchase to the appropriate number and follow up with a call the next day or so to make sure they process. They usually like a few days to process the requests - they certainly get enough of them and basically only one person processes them.

Don't have the person's name in front of me right now. I would call the 800 number monday AM and ask who to put it to the attention of. You could also scan and email. Might as well ask them which is better and also put them on alert that it is coming. Pretty sure 5882 is where I faxed my last one.

Should be ok.

When I called Carnival yesterday (Fri.) morning, I asked the question. She said even the day before the sailing they can process it, but try to allow longer time.

If you buy Mon., the transaction settles in 3 days, then you can print an on-line statement and fax to them. CCL closed at $47.63 on Fri., with a day range of 47.5 to 48.56. So expect to shell out $5k.

I wonder how many transactions of the buying and selling of CCL stocks are by cruisers getting the OBC for their sailing. (Not suggesting you do this, or that others do it :D)

middleager is right on--you will be cutting it close because of the settlement date. Probably will depend on CCL, but you can make it, esp. if they accept your buy comfirmation from Ameritrade. Fax that or your statement balance (take it from online) after it settles on Thursday.

Good luck, and welcome to the "owners club".:)

O.K. Got my stock bought & my cabin credit. It says that credit is not good on gratuities or casino. Does it show up as a different kind of credit than ordinary room credit? How does the ship know where the credit comes from?

Well good for you! They really don't, Your tips, drinks, etc. will all go into your S&S account. I guess to make sure you could spend $100 on drinks, gift shop, etc. just to be sure.
