jacank Posted April 21, 2006 #26 Share Posted April 21, 2006 Thanks so much gb923! I have my mom and daughter in that room - both first time cruisers. I wondered if there was noise from elevators or anything and if it's been refurbished. From your comments, sounds like it's just fine:). Lois. How was the weather? We still have 9 days before we go, but it should be almost the same.. maybe a tad warmer.
Rare Lois R Posted April 21, 2006 Author #27 Share Posted April 21, 2006 Hi,:) remember I was in the Caribbean. I don't know what the weather is like in Bermuda. It was sunny for my entire sailing:D ...there might have been a few clouds here and there but overall it was sunny and HOT. Your best bet is to check the weather channel...and they are on the web too!
stefhef Posted April 21, 2006 #28 Share Posted April 21, 2006 We are getting on her tomorrow for Bermuda and I am starting to feel better (since people have written such negative things previously). Sounds like it will be fine. We are also on the 5th floor.
BrooklynGirl2 Posted April 21, 2006 #29 Share Posted April 21, 2006 Stef...you will be fine and you will have a wonderful time. Please don't worry. Some of the negative things written here related to the Spring Break weeks on the short cruises in the Caribbean. That changed the whole tone and atmosphere of the ship. Zenith is a fine ship with a fab crew and very good food. You will be pampered and make friends and you will love Bermuda. It is very beautiful there. Relax, enjoy and come back and give us your thoughts when the cruise is over. Buon Voyage!:)
gb923 Posted April 21, 2006 #30 Share Posted April 21, 2006 It's not on the celebrity.com map, but there is a housekeeping room between 5072 and the elevators, so we never heard any noise from there. Just the occasional loud person in the hallway, which I'm sure everyone gets. I agree with everyone that the staff makes the cruise. They are all top notch and really made for a great trip. I never got down to the martini bar. The Cova was usually our last stop after some time in the casino (I finished the cruise about even, so I'm happy with that experience as well!). Was the Alambre Trio still on board? I enjoyed their music. I got one of the CDs they sold, but it's not the same.
dawne577 Posted April 21, 2006 #31 Share Posted April 21, 2006 Glad you had a great time, Lois! We've never been able to figure out the polarizing effect the Zenith has on people. Some people absolutely love her; some people absolutely hate her. We're sure that it has something to do with people's expectations. Perhaps there are two groups of cruisers: those who love glitz, bells and whistles, newness, and constant stimulation; and those who love charm, intimacy, and the feel of being at sea. Ah, to be sipping a latte in the Cova Cafe and nibbling on those pastries and cookies!
ChicagoMermaid Posted April 21, 2006 #32 Share Posted April 21, 2006 Thanks so much for the favorable report about the Zenith's physical condition. It's not that I need bells and whistles--it's just that I feel responsible because when some friends of ours brought up the idea of both of our families taking a cruise together in December 2006, I suggested this cruise after looking on the website. I thought, though, that we would all discuss it, etc and thenprobably choose one all together. However, my friends loved the Zenith's itinerary and so we decided to book without really considering anything else. The only other cruise I've been on was a few Christmases ago on the Summit and I know this will be a different type of ship. That's no problem, I just hope that everyone is happy on this cruise! adele319 Posted April 24, 2006 #33 Share Posted April 24, 2006 Lois R. Glad you enjoyed your recent cruise on the Zenith. We are 2 couples from NJ who are sailing the Zenith to Bermuda on 5/20. I haven't been on a Celebrity ship in years and I would like to know if most men DID wear jackets on the informal nights. I know it is suggested in the brochure, but our hubbies really don't feel like packing a sports jacket if it is really not necessary. Thanks, Karen
rianvi Posted April 24, 2006 #34 Share Posted April 24, 2006 Hi Lois, Although I have never had the pleasure of meeting you, I have always enjoyed and appreciated your posts. In August, we are taking our 4th cruise from N.J. to Bermuda. We are taking my parents along with us for their first cruise to celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary. It is a few months away but I can't wait. Although there are some negative posts about the Zenith, posts like yours, give us some thing to look forward to. Thanks again. Peace, Anna:)
Rare Lois R Posted April 24, 2006 Author #35 Share Posted April 24, 2006 Hi Anna, thank you:) Karen, I am trying to think about the informal nights. We had 3 males at our table. I think they all wore jackets. I'm sorry I can't give you a better idea % wise of what the other men wore. I did notice one thing though and just couldn't help it because the young lady walked right by me. And NO, it didn't ruin my cruise LOL It was formal night and a girl walked by. She had the most beautiful black top on...looked like it might have been made in India with lovely embroidery. Well, black slacks or a skirt would have been just fine....she was in..yes, jeans. As I said, it didn't affect my cruise but she looked a bit out of place (In my opinion). This cruise had many. many families on it. Alot of the young teens wore denim skirts on most evenings.... but I didn't realize wearing them short enough to see almost everything was "the style" Mini...Mini...skirts....yikes! Guess I am showing my age:confused:
jacank Posted April 25, 2006 #36 Share Posted April 25, 2006 Hi Lois.. We leave this Saturday:D<yay>. I'm curious about something that you can answer for me. We went to Bermuda on the Horizon in October 2004, and ran into tropical storm Nicole. There were no deck chairs on the prominade deck throughout our cruise, even after we reached Bermuda and had a calm crossing back home. Were there deck chairs on the prominade deck during your cruise?
jshearon Posted April 25, 2006 #37 Share Posted April 25, 2006 Lois, Thank you for your nice article. We are planning on cruising on Infinity next year to Bermuda. Was your room clean? Was it a smooth ride? Any rooms you would suggest for someone who wants an inside room? Janis
pezarino Posted April 25, 2006 #38 Share Posted April 25, 2006 I am going to Bermuda sailing June 10th on the Zenith. We will be a party of 10, my Aung and Uncle, my 3 siblings and spouses (kids will be left home!). We have 5 rooms all on the Caribbean Deck, outside cabins (Ours in #6109). We're getting more and more excited as the days go by. Thanks to everyone for their helpful hints as we are not seasoned cruisers. In fact, some of us are even Cruising Virgins! But it is amazing how much information I have learned from this board. I will let you know how we all made out when we get back!!
BrooklynGirl2 Posted April 25, 2006 #39 Share Posted April 25, 2006 Karen...both my husband and son wore sports jackets and ties on informal night on Zenith for both of our cruises to Bermuda last summer. Informal really means semi-formal. Most men did have jackets on although some wore them over polo-type shirts with no tie.

Rare Lois R Posted April 25, 2006 Author #41 Share Posted April 25, 2006 Lois,Thank you for your nice article. We are planning on cruising on Infinity next year to Bermuda. Was your room clean? Was it a smooth ride? Any rooms you would suggest for someone who wants an inside room? Janis Hi Janis, I sailed her in the Caribbean and the ride was very smooth:) My room was very clean and I had a wonderful cabin attendant. His name is Gabriel, from India. Really nice. Always asked me how my day went and always seemed to be around to open my door for me. I had a window on deck 5 near the bank (which is right near the center of the ship). Great location. Oh wait, you can't be cruising on Infinity to Bermuda...she is way too big for either St George or Hamilton. You must have meant to say "Zenith To Bermuda"? moni Posted April 26, 2006 #42 Share Posted April 26, 2006 Lois-:) thank you for your wonderful reports about the Zenith. DH and I will be on the Zenith in November. If she is anything like the Horizon we will most certainly have a wonderful cruise.
jacank Posted April 26, 2006 #43 Share Posted April 26, 2006 I'm still trying to find out if there are deck chairs on the prominade deck. Any info will be appreciated. Thank you Lois for the wonderful information about Zenith and the terrific review. I can't wait to sail..count down is 4 days.
Rare Lois R Posted April 26, 2006 Author #44 Share Posted April 26, 2006 Good morning, sorry I forgot to answer your question. But you are not going to like it. I honestly don't remember. After being on this ship twice in 3 months I truely don't recall "deck chairs on the Promonade". Not saying there aren't any, just saying I can't remember. ( I guess I never strolled outside?) Maybe BrooklynGal knows......or Ships R Great? They have both sailed Zenith quite a few times before.
BrooklynGirl2 Posted April 26, 2006 #45 Share Posted April 26, 2006 If by the Promenade Deck you are referring to the top most deck where the hot tubs are located...then yes there are lounge chairs up there all around the ship. They are the same ones as on the pool deck but without the padding. They are just plastic. There were quite a few people up there sunning during the day. adele319 Posted April 26, 2006 #46 Share Posted April 26, 2006 Thank you so much everyone for your input regarding the "informal nights". Our hubbies will just have to bring a sports jacket.
mypuppyisprincesstoo Posted April 26, 2006 #47 Share Posted April 26, 2006 Hi, the promenade deck is a lower deck. Some ships it wraps completely around. Don't think it does on the Zenith. We sail on her in 3 days to Bremuda.:) I'll look for the chairs. They had deck chairs on Infinity, not sure on the Zenith tho. Nice if they would. Love to lay on them and watch the ocean flow by on sea days.
jacank Posted April 27, 2006 #48 Share Posted April 27, 2006 Ooo, we sail in 3 days too! I love to sit on the promenade deck. I remember the Horizon didn't have any deck chairs, but hope the Zenith does. Have you signed up for the CC party mypuppyisprincesstoo? We have a nice size group, and we're all ready to party! Brooklyngirl, thanks for the info about the top deck. If there are no chairs on the promenade, I'll go up there, although I'm not really a sun person. I'd be the one slathered with sunblock, a big hat and sunglasses.:)
gwrod Posted April 27, 2006 #49 Share Posted April 27, 2006 If you are referring to the deck right below the life boats where shuffle board is, the answer is NO deck chairs there.
