They have not told us anythign yet, I just made the final payment, on Thursday and checked today. I checked by going online so we have not got anything in the mail or anything. Are the boats completely obstructing the view? Its our first cruise oh well at least we wont drown
DWH Posted April 22, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted April 22, 2006 Looks like if booked a specific room would have cost $400 more per person
Wennfred Posted April 22, 2006 #5 Share Posted April 22, 2006 This is a Cat. 7a, Balcony Staterooms with obstructed views: UPPER DECK: 5142 through and including 5191; 5224 through and including 5239; 5241, 5243, 5245. These are Balcony Staterooms but the top of the life boat will be flush to the window/Rail, you can still look over the Lifeboat if you are standing up. So you scored a Balcony which is way better cabin then a Cat. 6A cabin with French Doors from the Inside Cabin.

huey.drewby Posted April 22, 2006 #7 Share Posted April 22, 2006 Webshots has lots of pix of 7A Rooms. I tried to paste one here but the pic is too big and wont resize. You can see on the lifeboat that it is Carnival Miracle. http://community.webshots.com/photo/168943639/1168882758049268258VXgcDu#

virginiab Posted April 22, 2006 #9 Share Posted April 22, 2006 We got a similar upgrade from an inside cabin to a 7A on the Legend last fall and we were thrilled with it. The life boat is either completely or mostly below the level of your balcony floor, so you'll see it but it will not block your view in any major way. Because it is a balcony room, you will have a sofa that you would not have had in an inside room. So enjoy your balcony, enjoy your sofa, and enjoy your cruise! virginiab Posted April 22, 2006 #10 Share Posted April 22, 2006 Oh, you should know that sometimes the crew is doing maintenance or something on the lifeboats, so may be able to see into your cabin, so close your drapes when you need privacy. (I think this only happened when we were in port).
YooperGale Posted April 23, 2006 #11 Share Posted April 23, 2006 Hi We have cabin 5169 (also a 7a) on the Spirit for May of '07. The Carnival Cruise Vacation Specialist ahs assured me on two occasions (most recently today) that no part of the lifeboat extends beyound the railing of our balcony. She says we would have to look down from the balcony to see the lifeboat. I've had some conflicting information on that that from cruisers, but at least one poster here seems to aggree with the Carnival person. By the way, we are paying 950.00 pp military rate for a 7 day Alaskan cruise If anyone has any more infor on these rooms, i would aprreciate hearing it. Thanks, Gale
serene56 Posted April 23, 2006 #12 Share Posted April 23, 2006 If anyone has any more infor on these rooms, i would aprreciate hearing it.Thanks,Gale 5169 is a connecting cabin. There will be a door between your cabin and next door. the door is located down by the balcony door. you are between lifeboats. http://community.webshots.com/photo/231082601/1283580891062547426IJeRZn here is a photo of deck 5 and deck 6- the lifeboats sit at the balcony. youwill not haev aproblem looking out when you are sitting down. http://community.webshots.com/photo/344241236/1344244281070127580yChuIV here is a photo of what the balcony will look like from inside the cabin http://community.webshots.com/photo/344241236/1344244354070127580ESVjKj another view
