Sapphire Princess Alaska

Hello To all You Fellow Cruisers: On June 17th we will be sailing on the Sapphire Princess to Alaska leaving from Vancouver. This will be our fifth Princess cruise and we have been quite satisfied with all of them ( Dawn, Pacific, Sky and Island ). However, this is the first time that we will be staying in a mini-suite instead of an oceanview cabin. How are they? In particular we are staying on the Dolphin Deck room 400- any comments? Does anyone have any other comments to share regaring sailing on the Sapphire Princess. If we really like it; we may do the Australian/New Zealand cruise next year on the Sapphire. All comments very much appreciated. :)

We were upgraded two years ago on the Golden, whose rooms are the same as the Sapphire, from a balcony BA to a minisuite AB, which I believe was either in the 400s or 600s on the Dolphin level. It was very nice. The biggest difference from what you're used to is of course the bacony; we were spoiled forever and will never take a cruise without a balcony again. There's also a sofa in the minisuite as well as a second tv and tub/shower combo in the bathroom.

We booked a balcony BA again for this cruise, but alas, the upgrade to a minisuite did not happen. We'll see just how much we miss the sofa and tub and book accordingly next time around.

Did you see the note on our cruise roll call about meeting up with one another on Sunday 6/18 at 3 at the Outrigger bar (just outside the Horizon Court buffet area)? Hope to meet you there.

I have never sailed with Princess before, but just booked the Pacific Princess for next summer to Alaska. :) What did you think of that ship?

This is our second trip on the Sapphire and our first to Alaska.

The Sapphire is a beautiful ship with a fantastic crew (or at least they were last November.)

A minisuite is very nice, but the ones on Dolphin are exposed meaning that everyone above you can see down onto your balcony. Probably not a big deal in Alaska (not hot and sunny). You'll definately like the balcony and it will be hard not to get one next time.

We book the minis on Emerald for the covered balcony. Same size as Dolphin but covered, and slightly cheaper.

I have a cabin on the Sapphire on hold for an Alaska cruise in Sept, 07. Right now our TA is holding an aft cabin on caribe, category BB. My husband is wondering on an Alaska cruise if this is an ideal place to be or if a starboard cabin would be better.

thanks for any info

Kay

The Sapphire is an absolutely gorgeous ship. I was on her last year and stayed in a mini on the Dolphin deck. Your cabin sounds like it's in a good spot--mid-ship. You will have less motion in that location. The balcony is uncovered, but it made no difference. We were in Alaska in May 04 and the weather was just beautiful. Really enjoyed the balcony. You will love the extra room and the bath/shower combo. Have a wonderful cruise--you will not regret booking a mini suite.:D
