pattyj 1204 Posted September 27, 2006 #51 Share Posted September 27, 2006 I love sitting on the deck reading and people watching. The thing I loved most about my Med. cruise was sailing into Venice. I can close my eyes and still see the sights and hear everyone ooooh and ahhhh. Another plus is being able to share my cruise experience with my residents and family. I work in a Nursing Home and everyone is anxious to hear about and see my cruise photos. Thanks for the posting.
Sky Sweet Posted September 27, 2006 #52 Share Posted September 27, 2006 Cruises are the only vacation where I never go near a computer or use my cell phone. There is something very special about being able to totally focus on the joy of the moment without thinking about every day life in the real world. CruisesOnMyMind Posted September 27, 2006 #53 Share Posted September 27, 2006 I enjoy so many things posted but have not seen towel art. Call me a kid at heart. I love the towel art on my bed at night. The hanging monkey is great. I love the legs under the bed with the shoes. I really believe the cabin stewarts get a big kick out of doing this and we should let them know how much fun we think it is. I think I will take my own advice and let them know on my next cruise verbally how much of a smile they put on my face!
RodPat Posted September 28, 2006 #54 Share Posted September 28, 2006 My favorite things are going to the martini bar before dinner. It is even better if Sudi is the bartender. He was on our Constellation cruise and now I hear he is on Century. Now if I could only fit in another cruise with him, that would be heaven. Taking a nap in the afternoon on our aft balcony. We never get to nap in the daytime at home. Life is very hetic and to be able to do nothing at all is wonderful. Listening to the sea is so sooothing. Jarronwood Posted September 30, 2006 #55 Share Posted September 30, 2006 Ok Monica...You better look over that post.....I think you missed something.....:D Just kidding. AND I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO WAITED TO GO TO THE MARTINI BAR FOR A POTATO BASED VODKA GIBSON.... Jeff Hi Guys Forgive my ignorance, but what is a potato based vodka gibson is comparison to a vodka and cola?
jessemon Posted October 1, 2006 #56 Share Posted October 1, 2006 Hi Guys Forgive my ignorance, but what is a potato based vodka gibson is comparison to a vodka and cola? Jarronwood,I'm not sure if you are pulling my leg or not so I will be kind...:D A vodka and cola is a way to get a buzz and that is about it. Usually consists of bar vodka...yuk...and coke. Potato based vodka is something that is not even made any more in the US and a lot of other places in the world. It is distilled from potatos instead of grain. Their are still a few vodkas that are made from beets...yum-yum...hard to find. It is a treat to find a cruise line that even handles it. Let alone the fact that Celebrity the last time I cruised with them had 4 types. A Gibson is the same thing as a Martini (gin or vodka) may be used. The difference is a Gibson's garnish is two to three pickled onions instead of olives or lemon twists. You can actually enjoy the flavor of the vodka. Hope that helped. Luckyladym Posted October 1, 2006 #58 Share Posted October 1, 2006 1. Leaving or returning to NYC past Lady Liberty. It still can bring tears of pride and joy to the eyes. 2. Finally winning a little in the casino... winning a lot is even better. 3. Meeting people from all over the world, sharing a meal, a drink, or just some time with them. 4. Taking our grandchildren on their first cruise and watching them have a real blast....and behaving like ladies and gentlemen. Most of all...happy to still be able to enjoy all of the things mentiioned in this terrific thread. THANK YOU, Monica. And yes, I meant to yell. . suntan Posted October 1, 2006 #59 Share Posted October 1, 2006 I love the "welcome aboard" champagne and the cold towels that await you when you return from your island tour.
tinker Posted October 1, 2006 #60 Share Posted October 1, 2006 I love: 1.The second or third day when completely relaxed and settled in, know where I am going on the ship and just pretending that I live there. 2. Walking around the ship early in the morning with not too many out and about and just taking in more details and beautiful little things about the ship. 3. Having a favorite song from the music playing on the pool deck and hearing it one last time when walking across to breakfast on the last day :( (this is a great topic, thank you.) MaggieSweet Posted October 4, 2006 #65 Share Posted October 4, 2006 Planning and anticipating, sometimes up to two years in advance! :) The wonderful personality of our assistant maitre d' on the Summit. Being greeted by every employee with a smile and a "Good Morning Madam" or "Good Afternoon Madam." Coming back from the Alaska shore excursions to hear Mr. "Happy, Happy, Happy!" greeting everyone on their return. Having drinks brought when I barely have a chance to reach for my cruise card. Oh heck, I even miss the hand sterilizers that are at the entrance to every eating area. I'm washing my hands even more now that I'm home because I miss that sparkly feeling! ;) Tammy
