Explorer June 30th!

Recommended Posts

Need some expert advice on Explorer. We're heading out on 6/30 for 9 nts. This is only our 2nd cruise, cruised over 6 years ago on the Voyager, and the 1st for our daughter. Does anyone have experience with the 3rd "bunk" as they call it? Where does it fold down from? Is it comfortable? Also, does Explorer charge for kids to join their activities in the kids camp? Lastly, we have a balcony cabin on the edge of the "hump" (just where the hump flatens out), and according to the deck plan this is across from the library, any experiences with noise since there is no hallway? What are chances of bumping up on sail day? Tips? I appreciate any responses to any parts of this.:)

We're on the June 16th sailing on the same vessel.

I can't answer all your questions, but there is no charge for kids activities - matter of fact, one of the activities is a visit to Johnny Rockets, and this is a free visit for the kids.

As far as upgrading - we're in the same mindset. We'll be asking for upgrades just to see what happens. At this point, our cruise is very nearly fully booked, but there are sometimes last minute cancellations of balconies and although the chances are slim, it's worth asking anyway.

We had originally purchased two inside cabins and, due to good timing, we moved up to oceanview cabins and even saved money doing it since at the time, OV's were actually cheaper than the inside cabins!

Last year on the Voyager we had a cabin with a bed that pulled down from the ceiling. My son was 11 at the time. He did fine with it. There's enough room between the main bed that you don't feel closed it. It goes back up during the day.

Kids activities are great, my son loves it. About being across from the library, if it's where the internet is, it can get crowded at times with people using computer and kids just "hanging out". I also have a hump on deck 9 this year on Explorer. Please write when you get back!
