melodi1963 Posted June 9, 2006 #1 Share Posted June 9, 2006 I will be comming into Skagway on a Sunday morning, itenary says 7:00 am, on the Carnival Spirit. I want to take the Chilkoot Charters & Tours "Yukon Bus & Rail Excursion" that leaves at 7:30 am. Can anyone tell me from past experience, does the Spirit really get into port around 6:00 am like the man at to tour company told me, and I would have plenty of time to make this tour? Is Skagway a tendor port? or dock? By the way, has anyone done this tour? If so, how was it? Thanks for your input,
momeason Posted June 9, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 9, 2006 We rented a car in Skagway and drove into the Yukon. Lots of threads about it. It is a wonderful day trip. The drive is easy and it is much cheaper to rent a car.
ceejay_San Angelo Posted June 9, 2006 #3 Share Posted June 9, 2006 We were on Princess, not Carnival, but our ship always got in earlier than the itinerary said. Trust the tour operators, if he says you can make it, most likely you can.
Budget Queen Posted June 9, 2006 #4 Share Posted June 9, 2006 Skagway is docking. Go with the vender's recommendation. If they say that the timing is OK with them, and your tour prefernce , then book it. Have a great time. :) This combo tour is excellent.
springtxbill Posted June 9, 2006 #5 Share Posted June 9, 2006 All of the ports on the Inside Passage are actually very close to each other and the ships do not have a problem getting to the next one so they can arrive quite early.:)
sk84fungirl Posted June 11, 2006 #6 Share Posted June 11, 2006 I booked an independent tour in Ketchikan for 7:00 a.m. and my ship arrives at 7:00. When making the reservations for the fishing charter, they requested all of my information including name of ship and time we arrived in port. We will be prepared to get off the ship time we arrive as we know they will be waiting on us.
cruisequeen10 Posted June 12, 2006 #7 Share Posted June 12, 2006 If the ship docks at 7:00 a.m. that doesn't mean you can get off right away. It has to do some clearance before anyone can get off.
melodi1963 Posted June 12, 2006 Author #8 Share Posted June 12, 2006 I think I will take my chances upon the advice of the tour company and book the excursion.
