Want to take ferry to Hamilton for excursion and shopping..Does the ferry run only during the day? Problem getting to? Another day want to take bus to horseshoe bay beach..See it is route 7 BUT where does it stop? How long of a bus ride is this? Are we better off doing RCI excursion in Bermuda?? Also heard there is market/festival in St George tuesday night. Is it a big problem getting there? Much thanks in advance............

dyanna72 Posted June 12, 2006 #3 Share Posted June 12, 2006 Just returned from a week in Bermuda for our honeymoon. The ferries & busses run all over the island until about 10:30pm each day. Keep in mind that after 6pm the busses run every hour. The ferry is easy to find. Nest to the gazebo across from the Fort. The busses are a little trickier. Make sure to have you bus map to find the locations. The busses only take bus passes or tokens. NO CASH! Make sure to ge your round trip passes/token from the info booth next to the ferry station at the Dockyard. From the Dockyard take the number 7 bus "Hamilton" to Horseshoe Bay. Since the driver does not mention what stop he is at or what the next stop will be make sure to tell the driver that you will be getting off at this point & he will make sure to stop there. Since this is a very popular stop I will almost guarantee he will be stoping there anyway. It is approx a 30 minute ride from Dockyard to Horseshoe Bay via bus. About an hour to an 1 1/2 to get from Dockyard to St Georges by bus & a 45 minute ride by ferry. There is a street /market festival at the Dockyard on Tuesday nights not St. Georges. We were there when they were setting up but it got rained out. There is however a bigger festival on Wednesdays in Hamilton in which the Gombey dancers perform. For us a trip to St Georges was a waste of time since there is really nothing to see. Just a 2 block stretch of shops which were all closed for lunch. Hope this infor helps. Let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks, Dyanna
cruiserssandr Posted June 12, 2006 #4 Share Posted June 12, 2006 We just got back on June 4 and we were docked in St George the whole time. Tuesday night they had the street festival. Beautiful night and is was lots of fun. Craft and food vendors, gombey dancers, and the oldies band which was on our ship played. We always buy a three day bus pass for $28. They are good for both the bus and ferry. St George is very nice. Tobacco Bay is a short walk. Don't know why shops were closed for lunch, have never seen that. This was our 13th trip to Bermuda. Susan-M Posted June 12, 2006 #5 Share Posted June 12, 2006 It's very easy to take the ferry from the Dockyards to Hamilton and return (but look for the direct routes which will get your there faster.) The last ferry leaves from Hamilton at either 10 or 11 p.m. during weeknights (see the * at the bottom of the schedule.) The ferry dock in the Dockyards will be very close to your ship and in Hamilton, it is right downtown. Just be sure to have a map and the bus and ferry timetables with you. If you print the schedules out now for the routes that you will be using, and highlight the times that work best for you, it might save you some time when you are there - esp. if you are ready to go as soon as you arrive and know what times the bus and/or ferries are leaving at. If you are planning on buying day passes for the bus/ferries, you might be able to get them on board your ship before you arrive (we were able to get them on Zenith.)
