Lago Mar review

I didnt stay here as part of a pre-cruise but was there for almost a week.

My friend and I had a one bedroom executive suite, ocean/pool view. 2 double beds in the bedroom, HUGE bathroom, kitchenette, and living room complete with a dining room table, and a balcony. All the rooms are non smoking but smoking is allowed in all open areas, including the balcony, poolside and at the pool bar.

The hotel has a Caribbean feel. The property is on a cashless system so everything is charged back to your room. Food is reasonably priced, we ate room service almost every meal and for the 2 of us it averaged less than 20 dollars total but we are not big eaters either. Drinks are a bit on the pricey side. You have to call for ice, there are no vending machines or ice machines on the property but we had room service bring us buckets of ice when they came so that kept us stocked. The rooms are on climate control, you open the sliding doors to the balcony and the air goes off, if you leave the room then the air maintains the room at 75 degrees and then adjusts to what you want when you are in there.. but never got below 71 and that was only after we complained about it being too hot in the room. Overall I loved this property and we plan on going again for a week next year. There is a lot to do right there.. tennis, putt putt golf, a huge chess set, play grounds, hammocks, and the beach of course, and 2 swimming pools. There is a full service spa and fitness facility also. You really never have to go anywhere unless you want to. We went on the Sea Escape casino ship one night and had a blast, shopped the galleria and beach place other nights. We found a wonderful cab driver and would just call him and he would pop over and get us and haul us around. When he was not working he arranged for another driver for us so we had someone we felt safe with and that was dependable.

The concierge service at the hotel is lacking. They say it is in the book you have! Well not what we wanted to hear. The bell service is good and most everyone is very nice and helpful. Felt like being on a ship almost!

If you have questions please ask. Im not good at reviews because it is hard to sound objective and give a decent review.

Hi There,

We also stayed at the Largo Mar. We arrived on June 29th...just missed you!!

I do concur with everything that you posted. We stayed at the resort for two days prior to a short 4 day cruise and loved it. It was especially nice to stay off of the main path, with a priviate beach, prior to a cruise with many people.

We had a beachfront suite on the third floor, and our one and only complaint is the same as yours....We drug our luggage ourselves to our suite...Bellhops just do not exsist at this hotel!!

Everything else met our expectations, and yes they are usually quite high!!

One morning I woke up just at about sunrise. I sat on the balcony overlooking the ocean, and watched the sun come up....It was amazing...Oh and of course with the coffee I made from our little kitchen...so nice.

Soon I will post the sunrise and sunset pictures we took..

I would choose this resort hotel over the FLL hotels on the main strip, hands down. It was well worth the few extra dollars. This is certainly a 4star+ hotel.

We stayed at the Lago last March. We are a couple in our early 50's. We thought the hotel was nice for families and that's about it. Not enough to keep us entertained, particularly in the evening. We ended up taking a taxi to Las Olas Blvd and spent all of our time there. There is plenty to do in that area, that's for sure. Consequently, we are booking a hotel on the causeway for our next cruise, probably the Pier 66. The water taxi really makes life convenient, let me tell ya. No need for a car rental. Just hop on the water taxi and go...plenty of restaurants and bars and shopping... There is absolutely nothing near the Lago for evening entertainment...unless you enjoy dining in their pricey restaurant and listen to elevator music. Not for us. But like I said, it's a nice place...for families...and some ol'folks? Or if you are someone who just wants peace and quiet and relaxation...around the many kids that will surely be there.

Bottom line, I would not stay there again. For a "full resort"...not enough adult activities me. I guess it all depends on what kind of atmosphere you are looking for.

All about what you are looking for.... We did also adventure out at night, for entertainment. One day we went on the beach strip in the center fo FLL, and I was so gald that we were are a resort with out tons of people....

Worked for me and not for you!!! I guess it is all about what you want for vacation!!
