Questions - RCI v. CCL

Recommended Posts

Hi there - My cruising buddy and I are in the beginning stages of planning our next cruise. We are hoping you all might be able to verify some info as our only experience thus far has been with Carnival. Please correct us if we are assuming incorrectly about Royal Caribbean.

- Room service is free but tipping is 'suggested'.

- All you can drink soda/juice cards can be bought for a flat fee.

- Your ship card is used to get on and off the ship, get into your room, and to buy stuff while onboard.

- Tips are automatically charged to your account.

- You can check your account via the TV in your room.

- Art auctions are included in the ships activities while at sea.

Thanks Everybody !!

Everything is true except tips are not automatically charged to your account.

Yup!

Nope. Soda cards need to be purchased. OJ, lemonade, cranberry, iced tea, water - all free.

- Your ship card is used to get on and off the ship, get into your room, and to buy stuff while onboard.

Yup

Nope. You can arrange for tips to be added to your sea pass account, at the suggested tipping amounts, at the guest relations desk. You can always tip cash and you can always add $$ to the amount that is suggested - or you can tip less if you feel you got less than adequate service.

- You can check your account via the TV in your room.

Yes

- Art auctions are included in the ships activities while at sea.

Yes.

We could not check our account via the TV on the Majesty of the Seas. We checked every channel many times throughout the cruise with no luck. We just got a paper bill stuck in our door on the last night.

Thats true. You can only do it on RCI's newer ships.

Juice is only free at breakfast. You have to pay for juices the rest of the day (lemonade, tea, tap water, and coffee are still free all day).

The question was can you purchase a soda card that allows you unlimited soda. Isn't the answer to that question simply yes?

No, the question was about soda/juice cards and the responses properly pointed out that the cards allow unlimited sodas but do not include juices, most of which are free at breakfast and at meal times, but for which there are charges in the bars and lounges. Had the question been posed as you have written it, you would be correct that a simple yes would have sufficed.
