Port Everglades and Ritz Carlton

I was thinking of staying at one of the Ritz Carltons, Coconut grove or South Beach, before a cruise out of Port Everglades.

Is it real far to get to Port Everglades, and what would be the estimted cost of a taxi or driver?

I was thinking of flying into Miami and staying at the Ritz before the cruise then flying back out of Ft Lauderdale after the cruise.

I would appreciate anyones thoughts on this.

Thanks

Brad in Ma.

I stayed at the RC CG last year before cruising out of miami. Beautiful hotel....cab to miami pier cost about 20 dollars plus tip....long story, but the cabbie "chauffered" me to a grocery store the day before, came back on cruise day to get me at the designated time and probably made 30 bucks for himself....he didn't start the meter on the way back from the store so i gave him like 15 bucks..

anyway, i'm not sure how much it would cost to get to FLL. the grove is quiet....there are places to eat along cocowalk and it's nice....maybe you could rent a car for a day.
