How to pay for auto-tipping

We are cruising on the Caribbean Princess in August. As we are being charged $10 per person per day gratuities (x4 people), is this charged to our credit card automatically or can we settle this in cash at the pursers desk on debarkation? I know that the credit card is the easier way but by the end of the week i'm pretty sure it'll be maxed out and not ready for a $280 hit! Thanks!

Particularly when the credit card belongs to Daddy, eh?

Nunu, I'd suggest taking travelers' checks in US funds with you. You can use those to pay on-board expenses at any time. My recommendation is to do it a day or two before you disembark, thus avoiding long lines at the purser's desk on disembarkation day.
