How to pay for auto-tipping

We are cruising on the Caribbean Princess in August. As we are being charged $10 per person per day gratuities (x4 people), is this charged to our credit card automatically or can we settle this in cash at the pursers desk on debarkation? I know that the credit card is the easier way but by the end of the week i'm pretty sure it'll be maxed out and not ready for a $280 hit! :eek: Thanks!

You can also pre-pay this with your final payment. You can pay cash at the Pursers desk or keep it on your card. Any way is fine.

I try to prepay as much as possible for our cruises. It helps the sticker shock at the end.

Nunu, I'd suggest taking travelers' checks in US funds with you. You can use those to pay on-board expenses at any time. My recommendation is to do it a day or two before you disembark, thus avoiding long lines at the purser's desk on disembarkation day.
