AFT_LOVER Posted June 25, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 25, 2006 so no kids or at least very few. Maybe a European 2 week one. Those you have a few adults with you playing mini golf, which is great on a moving hsip. Then the billard tables that rock n roll in the waves but the balls do not move til you it one with a cue. That is amazing to watch as the table does a dive but the balls don't move! Even the 2 guys playing freaked out when the table went face down suddenly & I yelled at the massive wave outside in the North Sea. Then the storm hit.... Ocean Boy Posted June 25, 2006 #3 Share Posted June 25, 2006 Then the billard tables that rock n roll in the waves but the balls do not move til you it one with a cue. That is amazing to watch as the table does a dive but the balls don't move! There are no billiard tables on Explorer or the other Voyager class ships. Long Lines?? When we were on Explorer for a Western Caribbean sailing I can say that we never really had to stand in line to wait for anything. The ship rarely felt crowded at all. Langley Cruisers Posted June 25, 2006 #4 Share Posted June 25, 2006 The only times we really noticed long lines were as expected - at embarkation, debarkation, and the day we had to present ourselves to U.S. Immigration. Even the lines to get on and off the ship at ports seemed to move fairly quickly. When we were watching the rock climbing one day, I'd say there were less than a dozen people waiting in line, because they can take several at once (maybe 4 or 5?) to climb the wall. There was no line at mini golf because hubby and I played one evening... that was fun! Golf on a windy deck in the dark - who'd have thunk! We didn't ice skate, but when we checked it out one sea day, there were maybe a dozen people on the ice. Now, granted - long lines are different than crowds. The Royal Promenade can be crowded, especially on sea days and in the evenings when the stores set up their tables for their sidewalk sales. Ugh... very crowded. But, what to do? You try not to let it bother you. Where have you got to go? ;) Have fun! Explorer is an awesome ship.
bancytu Posted June 26, 2006 #5 Share Posted June 26, 2006 We went on the Explorer last summer and did not wait in lines for anything. The compass tells you the times you can go ice skating, just show up then and skate. We played mini golf a few times and never had to wait. When you go on the rock wall you have to sign up to go at a certain time but we didnt wait very long. Just check in at the desk and they will tell you when you can climb. The Explorer is a great ship!
Firefighterhoop Posted June 26, 2006 #6 Share Posted June 26, 2006 It all depends on when you want to do the activity... If you go to let's say mini golf in the middle of the afternoon on a sea day there may be a 5 to 10 minute wait.. If you hit the buffet at like 9am for breakfast, there may be a 3 minute line.. Compared to other cruiselines the lines were non existant, but sometimes there was a short delay during peak hours. Don't worry about it. Have a great time!
