Inside Cabin....starting To Worry Me!

Recommended Posts

Just my 2 cents, I have had a window and inside cabins, never a balcony. On one cruise we ended up on a lower deck with one porthole near the front of the ship, needless to say the hull is very thick, and our view was, well very tiny, letting in almost no light, pretty much useless. I prefer the value of an inside cabin, will someday try a balcony, but for the price of an inside, we can cruise more often, and as others have said great for sleeping! All we ever do is sleep, shower, and change in the room, so it is perfect for us.:)

I've done inside, outside, balcony and like them all for different reasons. But the one drawback I found with the inside cabin was getting up in the morning, dressing then going out on deck to find it windy and rainy (yes, it does sometimes happen on my vacations!) so heading back to the cabin to change clothes. I like to be able to look out and know what to expect for weather BEFORE I get dressed! But that's just me!

4 people in an inside cabin, you can imagine the madness. however not in the room as much as you think. You spend a lot more time in the open spaces, relaxing in a lounge or eating or walking on the decks. Book inside, save the money and win your trip back in the casino with the extra cash

I don't know if you can still buy them, but we took a "indiglo" night light that gave just a very gentle glow to the room. It provided just enough light so I could find my way to the restroom in the middle of the night. The one we had also included an air freshener strip that worked from the little bit of heat generated by the light. It was nice to have that little bit of added fragrance. My only minor complaint was that the inside cabin tended to be a little musty smelling, but once we plugged the nightlight/air freshener combination in that problem was solved.

Oh yeah, they are all over the place. Visiting our daughter in Canada, sleeping in a basement apartment (Vancouver is loaded with these), I searched for a nightlight WITHOUT the scented oil device, because they are a bit strong sometimes. Had to settle for removing the oil container. You can get one for way under five bucks at any drug store.

We are doing the Panama Canal this fall with another couple. NMnita

Nita, are you going to be on the Sun embarking Sept 28? We are looking forward to this cruise through the Canal and that's why we booked a balcony, portside. Hope to see you onboard.

We were in an inside on the Star a few weeks ago, and the lighted digital clock I took gave off enough light if we needed to get up during the night. I put it on the top shelf next to the television set. I was glad I had the surge protector for my laptop with multiple outlets, so we could leave it plugged in when we needed an outlet for something else.

We had a wonderful time and didn't feel we missed a thing by having an inside cabin.

Taking the Star to Ixtapa in November. I've booked an inside cabin......please help me with information on cruising this way.

I've never cruised in one and I'm so curious about it.

I want all your good suggestions and information.

Please, I'm starting to feel a little shaky about that "inside, no windows feeling"!.......

Have you done it?

Roz

My 1st cruise was a porthole. It was ok but I personally wouldn't do it again. I love the balcony for the quiet down time I need & to just be able to sit & contemplate the vastness of the ocean, etc . I can't afford to cruise more than once every couple of years so I want the best. When I hit the lottery I'll get a suite. I couldn't stay in an inside because I would feel closed in. My kids had one next to ours & they did just fine (teens). Most people don't spend alot of time in the cabin because there's so much to do for the week. So it's really up to your personal needs. I hope you enjoy your vacation:)

I haven't read the other posts as I'm pressed for time so I may be repetitive....

I LOVE THE INSIDE CABIN!

Complete darkness making it easy for sleeping. Just make sure your cell phone is charged at all times or bring an alarm clock, the time is on TV but it's kinda a pain...Bring a clock and it's great.

How much time do you spend in your room. If you spend a lot, then you may want to upgrade, but all I use my room for is sleeping and showering. I may be awake for a whopping 45 minutes in my room a day. It certainly isn't cost effective for me to upgrade for 45 minutes a day of extra room and a window.
