press53 Posted June 27, 2006 #1 Share Posted June 27, 2006 We just signed up the Christmas cruise on Granduer of the Seas and were assigned cabins on Deck 8 (right below the pool). Can anyone give their opinion on this location. We,ve never been this high up before. Is there a better chance for seasickness?
parrotthead Posted June 27, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 27, 2006 Better view...as for seasickness...midship, lower decks have less rocking...are you prone to getting seasick, or are you just concerned?

cb at sea Posted June 27, 2006 #4 Share Posted June 27, 2006 If the ship is rocking, you're going to feel it no matter where you are! A couple decks won't make THAT much difference! I do find a difference between the front or back of the ship and the middle (near the hump area). More midships is more stable! As far as being under the pool area, there's very little noise, so don't worry about that!
Crackerjack Posted June 27, 2006 #5 Share Posted June 27, 2006 Last December we were in cabin 8029 for the first half of a back-to-back. The only time we heard anything was the night of the midnight buffet up on deck. Honestly, it was not a big deal. I can't even remember if it was drums or bass, but it wasn't too loud. I would suggest sleeping with the tv on the channel live from the bridge, if you're in an inside stateroom. We lost all track of time. :) Don't worry! We were in our room so rarely it was great for our family of 4! J.
lauren0309 Posted June 27, 2006 #6 Share Posted June 27, 2006 We've always stayed midship but on a lower deck. This time we're midship again but on Deck 7. I'm just worried about seaksickness being higher up. We have a balcony cabin this time so maybe the fresh air will help.

(And shouldn't book one if location is important to you.)
mrgabriel Posted June 27, 2006 #8 Share Posted June 27, 2006 I am very prone to seasickness. We were on Deck 8, just aft of the hump. I felt nothing in our cabin. The only place I felt motion was when we were in the theatre at the front of the ship.
